Lindsey Graham: ‘Enemy combatant’ (In Spades!!!)
Politico ^ | April 20, 2013 | KATIE GLUECK

Posted on 04/20/2013 12:55:08 PM PDT by yoe

Several Republican lawmakers are calling for the surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings to be tried as an enemy combatant, rather than as an ordinary criminal.

“It is clear the events we have seen over the past few days in Boston were an attempt to kill American citizens and terrorize a major American city,” read a Saturday statement from Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), John McCain (R-Ariz.), Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) and Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.). “The accused perpetrators of these acts were not common criminals attempting to profit from a criminal enterprise, but terrorists trying to injure, maim, and kill innocent Americans. The suspect, based upon his actions, clearly is a good candidate for enemy combatant status. We do not want this suspect to remain silent.”

Their statement came after Dzhokar Tsarnaev was taken into custody and sent to the hospital Friday night.

[snip] “America is part of the battleground,” he said. “If you capture someone on the battleground, they should not be given the privilege of a civilian trial where they are given different rights...

[snip] “We continue to face threats from radical Islamists in small cells and large groups throughout the world,” they said. “They have, as their primary focus, killing as many Americans as possible, preferably within the United States. We must never lose sight of this fact and act appropriately within our laws and values.”

I would support using treason under the constitution if a case can be made. Lets not forget it has to stand up to a jury unless he pleads guilty.

I think the alleged actions are treasonous but for the victims he should be tried for murder under MA law then maybe for treason.

But the feds wont do this. They will use some statute passed by congress and probably screw it up as always.

Those are not crimes in the constitution. In fact the 2nd protects his right to those firearms. All the statues you list are bad laws passed by congress that should not exist.

Nope!...

That’s the Gallows at the Tombstone Court House.

It’s all of 17 miles away from me.

The rush to praise and invoke federal power here is a little disturbing. It’s a lot like when libs aren’t satisfied with a state law verdict, and raise hell for the inevitable “Civil Rights violations” charges.

Personally, I think it utterly destroyed it, at least for a long while.

I think we'll know in the next week. Hearings would be going on right now, except they were delayed after the bombing. A lot of things were.

You don’t have to tell them what their job is and how to do it. I stated that to refute your statement of only a 30 sec video. As a far as your lynch comment - it speaks volumes of your mindset. And your court comment - reach into your pocket, newbie.

Hypocritical liberals seek death penalty in state that outlaws it.

I am having great joy pointing this out to them.

I do not trust federal prosecutors or DA’s as far as I can throw them. Let MA handle it but they wont because Obama thinks he’s God.

He murdered a Chinese National. Extradite his ass to China where he will definitely receive due justice.

Yes, thought I recognized them. I’m in AZ too, and I’ve been to Tombstone a couple times. Usually when out-of-state rels come visit. Folks either want to see the Canyon or Tombstone.

If it’s the Canyon, we go through Sedona. If it’s Tombstone, it’s Saguaro National Forest/Sonoran Museum.

I think we'll know in the next week.

Gotta chuckle a bit here, these guys if they take this up after what just happened would redefine the word "hoot spa" (hope I spelled that right)

They might just do it, who know any more?

There probably is a good Treason charge in this, which would be grounds for executing him. They would just need to tie him in some way to terrorist groups that exist in some sort of “state of war” against the U.S. Even showing sympathy with their cause might be enough when combined with his actions.

Don’t fall for Little Lindsey’s routine. He and McCain are only posturing to distract from the immigration disaster that led to Boston.

I don’t get your post. He wasn’t a natural born citizen. He swore an oath to become one which is demonstrably a lie. Therfore he is NOT one, or the oath is meaningless. The “granting” has to be contingent on the valid oath, therefore there is nothing to “strip”.

Someone mentioned that the Constitution has to apply, and I agree. He swore a false oath to it and does not deserve its protections, or it is meaningless.

We need some common sense here, like the Founders had. The US Consitution is NOT a suicide pact.

I think they not only will take up the issue, they will try to argue that the bombing only highlights the need for “comprehensive reform”. I put nothing past them.

Maybe that's the Saudi connection they're trying desperately to downplay and deport??
