The ambassador of the Czech Republic to the United States stressed Friday that his country is different from Chechnya, the region with which one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects has close ties.
As many, I was deeply shocked by the tragedy that occurred in Boston earlier this month. It was a stark reminder of the fact that any of us could be a victim of senseless violence anywhere at any moment, Czech ambassador Petr Gandalovič said in a statement Friday.

Impossible! Our youth are getting the best liberal education on the planet.
“System of Chechens & Tbilisians”
Hardly. Some years ago he was posted to NYC as a consul to the US. I met him and his family at a Saint Nicholas celebration. They give no appearance of being muslim, nor do I think a muslim family would have traveled to Pennsylvania to attend a Christmas party.
The CR has its history of religious conflict but it goes back to the Reformation and Counter-Reformation involving Catholics and Protestants. During the Communist years of the Cold War, religion was suppressed, and many families fell away from religion altogether.
I've never seen much fondness for Islam among Czechs. This goes back to the Ottoman Empire and cruelties endured under the Turks.
Czechs are a freedom-loving bunch who have been in the middle of many conflicts over the centuries because they live in rich lands in the heart of Europe. They don't start conflicts, as they'd rather write poetry and music, and drink beer. They get pulled into conflicts or get rolled over by armies from time to time. When that happens they drink more beer.
But the MSM will not say as much. End result: most people will get the idea that the Boston bombing was somehow related to the Chechnyan-Russian conflict.

That may have been at the request of the (ahem) Russians, who are watching the Chechens.
‘It never occurred to me that anyone could confuse Chechnya for the Czech Republic, but then I’m not a Democrat.’
It can be confusing when you have the names of 57 states to remember.

He didn’t correctly complete his sentence.

Which he should have concluded by saying, “...if you live near Muslims.”
“It was a stark reminder of the fact that any of us could be a victim of senseless violence anywhere at any moment, if you live near Muslims.”
Quite possibly. It would make the most sense. Which means the Russians warned us.
Confusing Chechnya with the Czech Republic is almost as bad as confusing the Maldive Islands with the Malvinas, as the Dear Leader did.
