The ambassador of the Czech Republic to the United States stressed Friday that his country is different from Chechnya, the region with which one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects has close ties.
“As many, I was deeply shocked by the tragedy that occurred in Boston earlier this month. It was a stark reminder of the fact that any of us could be a victim of senseless violence anywhere at any moment,” Czech ambassador Petr Gandalovič said in a statement Friday.

In the days of old, when Knights were bold, ladies were taken to the tournaments. They excitedly dressed in their finest finery to see and to be seen. It was my honor to escort the lady Geneva, the sister of the duke to the event.
She was not too well versed on just exactly what was transpiring but was eager to choose a champion and to wager the 50 florins in her purse. I carefully explained the jousting course and how the knights rode towards each other, lances lowered to unhorse their opponent.
We reviewed the warriors. There was Sir Geffery Dilandsworth wearing the gleaming armor and carrying the shield with the distinctive blue and white checkered shield. There was Sir Albert Truan in the black armor and a green pennant of Vaud rippling from his lance, there was Sir Gilbane De Valier, lord of St Gelbert manor on the huge gray charger and there was Sir Zagnoc Miclicokye Earl of the Chech barony in the wonderful red chain mail mantle over his shoulders Aegis like.
After the first round, half were eliminated and so it went till there were only 6 left. My lady, a thrifty sort still had her florins and was deciding how best to wager. She cried out to Sir Albert and waved her lace kerchief and then pointed to the bold knight and swooned “Is that Sir Zagnoc with the pretty shield”?’

Talk about trying to deal with the perceptions of low-informatation people, this is just another example.

This is active promotion of making words seem to mean something they do not.

Reminds me of when I was on a college campus and walked past the office of a professor who was talking with a female student. He mentioned Mao Tse-tung, and she asked, "is he Chinese or Japanese?" I was wondering how she could have gotten into that college without knowing who Mao was (and no, it wasn't Hillsdale).

I’m a 1983 grad (dropout actually) and I know the difference. I’m no geography wizard but if the borders have been stable for 20 years or so I usually have a reasonable amount of knowledge.

Absolutely correct! This has nothing to do with Chechnya. A Chechnyan extremist in America would target the Russian embassy. A muslim extremist in America would target the American people.
But the MSM will not say as much. End result: most people will get the idea that the Boston bombing was somehow related to the Chechnyan-Russian conflict.

Idiots. They make those great CZ firearms in the Czech Republic. They only seem to make Islamic murderers in Chechnya. But maybe that’s too harsh... Not.
I'm not an expert on Chechnya, so I'll concede that point. But here's the bottom line: were the bombers motivated primarily by nationalism, or by religion? From what I've seen of their on-line postings, it was religion.
The older one was interviewed by the FBI as a possible terrorist at foreign government’s request. Our FBI cleared him and just two years later gave him citizenship. Hows that for protecting us?
We tend to label terrorists by nationality as well as ideological labels. Chechen muslims have proven themselves to be a type of special forces of islamic terrorism even making up a considerable portion of Bin Laden’s personal guard.
BTW I think its important to know where individual terrorists come from because not all are culturally alike and its often reflected in their behavior.
For instance, Chechens (And other eastern European muslims) seem to take special pleasure in targeting children.
There was a lot of that confusion going on. I had to explain the difference to my kids and tell them the muslims haven’t been too kind to the Indians either.
