In his State of the Union address to the American people earlier this year, Barack Obama declared that he was "confident" of achieving "our objective of defeating the core of al-Qaeda".
Although he acknowledged the need to pursue the "remnants" of the terrorist group and its affiliates, the overall message was clear al-Qaeda was badly degraded, the tides of war were receding and the US was winning this fight that was no longer even officially a war.
The Boston bombings would appear to present a fundamental challenge to that assessment and once again bring the nagging uncertainty of terrorism back on to the American main street.
It is too soon to be absolutely sure the attacks were motivated by jihadist ideology, but the Islamic videos on the website of the older of the two Tsarnaev brothers point very firmly in that direction.
They bring home the complexity of the global Islamist threat and the fact that it cannot be confined to wars in distant lands, or fought at arm's length using drones, as the Obama administration has quietly yet insistently led America to believe.

The problem is the "takers" and the traitors are outnumbering the workers and the patriots.
90 million out of the workforce, 20% of all Americans on Food Stamps, 99 weeks of unemployment, millions on TANF, 9 million on Social Security Disability......it goes on and on.
The US military has been enduring IEDs, fighting the enemies of this nation, and suffering for years.
The American people have largely forgotten about them. Had an IED blown up in Afghanistan last Monday, wounding hundreds of Americans and killing several, the American people would have shrugged their shoulders. It is true.
Now our military is under direct assault at home. Those who have given the most for this nation are having their healthcare cut, their pay and pensions threatened, and the very money used for Operations and Maintenance so they can perform their jobs has been slashed 40-60% under Sequestration. This is how Sequestration played out - it took O&M money because other accounts were fenced off.
Will Americans continue to yawn in the face of those who have been fighting this war for a dozen or more years now? Those who have endured 5 or 6 year long deployments, leaving their families and sacrificing everything they could give?
Boston is still asleep. Watching celebrations here on TV. “It’s over!” is a common statement.
Most seem to see this as a one-off.
At work, none of the kids my wife supervises gets it. “They’re Russians, right? Why would they do this?”
“They’re Muslims. They want to kill us.”
Blank stare.
those students who came on the street are idiots, they thin it’s one big party and can’t get it into their liberal dopey heads that it;s not over.
As I watch these students clowns dancing and shooting and trying to get on TV I was thinking what complete idiots, life is one big party them and this bombing is something to talk about in a bar and say I was there.
difference is Skypilot that killing and bombing marines, soldiers or others is what ever but bomb a liberal north east yuppie student city and they will pay.
The bomber, suspect what ever he;s called became American and therefore does he get rights under the constitution?
I’d like to know why he gets no Miranda rights under the DOJ and yet Bin Ladens driver and other who are not American do get more rights than the bomber immigration let in.
Look at TX and how more died, more lost their homes, more have been hurt.
Hardly a mention off some networks and not even a mention of bozo and not even a call to the mayor of that town off bozo.
I also thought these so called “special prosecutors “ were now banned under bozo but it seems not for the boston bomber plus the left wing is supposed to be against the death penalty but for this they make an exception.
Tell me again where on earth the left wing stands on issues because they make exceptions to suit their agendas
You’re right. Hopefully this reaction is limited to dopey college kids. Lots of them in downtown Boston.
Boston is like a huge campus, every where one looks it’s full of snotty nosed liberal students who have now clue about the real world or even how the real America is.
I was actually stunned to see them dancing and cheering in the street as if this is a party.
Did they forget that we have big problems and just because bozo their messiah or Duval Patrick said it’s over does nt mean it;s over
I used to live in Boston and in Cambridge, so I understand the majority mindset. Don't get me wrong, I still loved both cities.
Boston, Cambridge, San Francisco, Seattle - the majority of the citizens believe they are superior, both intellectually and morally. In most cases that is complete rubbish, especially regarding the latter. As a result of complete rejection of Judeo-Christianity, these people shake their fist at God and, thinking themselves wise, have become fools.
I went back to Cambridge last summer to visit friends. The most popular "bumpah stickah" (BY FAR) in Cambridge was this one:
There may be some soul searching among a few now, but I doubt it.
As for the explosion in Texas, I partially agree. There is inherent snobbish bias. However, an industrial plant out in the Texas plains is not a busy street at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Moreover, all of the evidence so far does in Texas does not indicate terrorism, although that investigation is on-going.
Tell me again where on earth the left wing stands on issues because they make exceptions to suit their agendas
When anyone is not grounded in God's word, they are blown like chaff in the wind. Gay marriage? Sure! Aborting babies? Why not!?
Only through God's hand are we given true moral clarity.
Bump
I agree wholeheartedly!
But there is a ray of hope...let me backtrack a bit:
It was a Civilian who noticed a ripped tarp on his boat and called 911, resulting in the capture of the suspect. One COULD argue that if the Civilians had not been confined to their homes, the detection of the suspect might have been HOURS earlier.
It was a Civilian who filmed the video of the firefight immediately preceding the capture. The Media are now showing these videos over and over.
It was a Civilian who videoed the firefight and explosions the night before.
It was a Civilian who alerted the authorities that his SUV had been hijacked.
It was a Civilian who sent the photo that alerted the FBI to the identity of the terrorists.
It was a Civilian who detained the first “person of interest”.
Many Civilians participated in the triage and rescue of the initial bomb victims.
Even though Boston is a very “liberal” city (I KNOW, I am FROM there), the Civilians the way Americans DO. This confirms to an earlier pattern of Civilian courage and self-reliance since 9/11, the shoe bomber, the Underwear Bomber, The Times Square Bomb attempt, and others.
Thge LEO’s involved in Boston showed great skill, courage , and restraint, and lost one of their own. But The cooperation and courage of Civilians was essential to the solving of this case.
JMO.
But if the NRA had not blocked the ability of LEO to trace the origin of gunpowder, then LEO would have quickly arrested the perp without the help of civilians. /sarcasm
Ahh, the Pied Piper blames his victims.
Yes. /s
Everyone needs to read this book. I don’t know why Fox or some of the conservative sites haven’t been interviewing this guy. I only found one reference to his book in one article.

1. Our intelligence agencies downplay the impact of the Muslim Brotherhood in America. They overwhelmingly say this terrorist organization poses no threat to Americans. The truth is the Muslim Brotherhood is dangerous, have the capability to attack any American city, have continuously stated they will destroy America and Israel, and they have the capability to carry out these acts.
2. Our President knows more about the Muslim Brotherhood than he leads the American people to believe. Mr. Obama also downplays the threat the Muslim Brotherhood poses to America. The truth is Mr. Obama is aware the Muslim Brotherhood has the desire and capability to cause more damage to our country than the attacks of 11 Sep 2001 did.
3. Our senior law enforcement agencies such as the FBI do not inform the American public that the Muslim Brotherhood openly operates throughout America and they have the support of such organizations as CAIR. Note: My father (Dave Gaubatz) and researchers on his team have conducted first-hand research at Muslim Brotherhood facilities in the U.S. One such location is in Philadelphia, PA.
agree with all of that.
I;ve never been to the west coast but Boston, Cambridge etc have a very snobby attitude who think they’re better than everyone else, maybe because many went to college there or maybe because they have like minded people around them who tell each other how great they all are and how stupid the south and Midwest and small towns are, I don’t know.
But I bet after this there will still be that very left wing snotty attitude there.
As for that sticker, yep I;m always amazed how those who shout tolerance, diversity are the ones who are least tolerated
Well said.
Had the same feelings about the kids at the campus. Just one big party and excuse to get drunk. Some of these same liberal indoctrinated kids will be sitting on the Obamacare care death panels one day pulling the plug on American seniors. Very few, if any, will be on the real front lines protecting and defending our freedoms and liberty. Some will gladly be lawyers protecting the ‘freedoms’ and ‘liberties’ of Islamists here in America. I fear the leftists have won the war for young minds.
