Just one day after the Boston Marathon bombings, Sen. Mark Warner said fiscal troubles hamstringing the nation are a greater threat to Americans’ well-being than terrorism.
“In my mind, with the tragedy of yesterday, the issue of this national debt is a greater threat to our nation and our future than any terrorist action,” the Virginia Democrat told an audience at an awards dinner in Washington Tuesday night, Politico reported. “We will not be destroyed from the outside.” …

You are right. These Dems whine about the “debt” as if its a stand alone issue, and then vote for every spending and entitlement expansion under the sun. Taxes aren’t the issue — tax collection as a percentage of GDP is at a historical high. “Debt” isn’t the problem in and of itself — the issue is SPENDING, which has been completely out of control under Obama (and Bush for that matter) because Warner and others voted for unaffordable increases in spending. If the debt is worse than terrorism, then Warner is worse than a terrorist for causing the problem.
I agree that the current level of terrorist activity, which USG has used to empower itself, is much less a threat to USAians safety than debt based currency.
Nukes and other true WMD usage would turn change this around, due to the additional immediate effects on USA commerce. We’re only hanging on by a few finger nails...
