Immigration Bill 'Worse Than We Thought,' Legalizes Relatives and Previously Deported
CNSNews ^ | 04/17/2013 | Craig Bannister

Posted on 04/17/2013 5:40:45 PM PDT by izzatzo

Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas) said today that the Senate immigration bill is even worse than feared, since it legalizes illegals' relatives and even those previously deported:

"It's hard to believe, but the Senate immigration bill is worse than we thought. Despite assurances, the border is not secured before almost everyone in the country illegally is given amnesty. The bill guarantees there will be a rush across the border to take advantage of massive amnesty."

Rep. Smith says the Senate immigration bill shreds current immigration laws:

"And the Senate proposal offers amnesty to far more illegal immigrants than we thought. In addition to most of the 11 million illegal immigrants already in the country, the bill offers to legalize the relatives of illegal immigrants outside the U.S. and even others who have already been deported back home. So current immigration laws are shredded.

"The Senate bill is bad news for the American people. The good news is that the House Judiciary Committee will come up with a better plan that improves our immigration system and puts the interests of American workers

“50 million newly legalized citizens”

You don’t say. Show me where the bill provides for this?

I’m sure Juan McCain and Linda Graham were grateful that the border fence law was weakened.

For reasons of pure ethnic loyalty this pudgy mortgage deadbeat wants to flood my homeland with Democrat voters.

Unless the bill somehow deactivates the Family Reunification part of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 I think its a safe bet that these 11 (or 20 or 30) million illegals who will be immediately affected by any ‘reform’ that grants them legal status will bring in at least an equal number of family members.

Exactly. I would refer you to my earlier post.

People who think the amnesty bill will result in less than 30 million new people are deluding themselves.

El Rubio’s bill also put illegals at the front of the line for work permits - ahead of Legal immigrant petitioned relatives waiting abroad for years/decades for their petitions to become current.

An illegal Mexican here for three years, mostly working illegally, but also a few misdemeanor arrests: Rubio gives him an instant work permit.

A Philippine national, with a clean record, waiting 20 years in the Philippines for his petition to be called: Rubio spits in face and whispers “sucker - you should have sneaked in”.

Not instantly though. The bill is bad enough as is, no need to make it worse.

Do you understand what family reunification is & chain immigration ? That’s how the numbers go up to 30 to 50 million people.

Rubio isn’t counting on the Filipino vote in 2016, apparently.

Yeah, I know — 10 years that is what is promised. However, these people will be in the country on day 1, irrespective to citizenship status, and you can bet there will be a stampede to our borders if this measure passes. As American citizens, born here, lived our lives here, served in the military here, paid taxes all our lives here, worked in our communities here, we should resent these political elites who do this for electoral or economic advantage at the expense of everyone else already here. How does this improve our lives as Americans? How does this improve our economy? How does this not erode our already troubled social fabric? I am only 3 generations removed from an immigrant, so I favor legal immigration by people who want to become Americans. This amnesty spits in the faces of all the previous immigrants that came here legally and showed that they wanted to be Americans. It devalues the worth of being an American that law-breakers will be rewarded and law-abiding prospective immigrants will be made to look like fools for doing it the right way.
I am disgusted that our political elites would betray us all for a temporary gain. We should not delude ourselves about this amnesty.

I never like rubio and he is now shown to be indifferent to American security and sovereignty. He is a turn coat liar when he promised that he would stand against this bill if border security was not iron clad first... he is a turn coat cheater who cheated when he ran as a Conservative and he is a turn coat thief because stole the votes of everyone that put him into office... because it was not the man running for office that they got in the election... it is the above man that sits in DC today.

What you say is very true but it is worse... he promised Rush that he would oppose this bill if border security was not iron clad and put into place first... before any other part of the bill would go into force. He lied outright... then tried to scam the American people. He turned from an open border republican into an open border, LIAR, backstabbing, skin before country, “America last” kind of republican... and he accomplished it with one vote and a pack of lies.

Here’s a question I can’t get answered:

Those on the “pathway to citizenship” will have to prove they have jobs. But hiring them is illegal. So where is this proof going to come from? If the erroneously on-purpose undocumented alien claims he worked at Joe’s Tire Shop or the Leakless Roofing Company, will Joe and the Leakless Roofing Company be penalized for hiring illegals?? Or is hiring of illegals going to be legal now?

I see it, and I understand what they are trying to do. They are trying to fill in a demographic hole right now and increase the tax base.

Having it not have a ‘path to citizenship’, isn’t really anything different than slavery - you’ll have one class of folks with certain rights and another class without.

If they are going to be legal - then they should have an option to become American citizens.

That being said - they should all be deported. If they are caught here illegally then they need to go to their home country. We shouldn’t be making excuses for them staying here. Path to citizenship isn’t the issue - deportation is the issue.

They are trying to ERASE the GOP voting base...not so much fill in the tax base since most of these people are poor & uneducated and will be going on welfare & Obamacare. They will not be able to fill in any tax base.

Senate Immigration Bill Delivers Amnesty and Cheap Labor,
but Not Immigration Reform

A Full-Scale Effort to Mobilize Public Opposition, Promises FAIR

(Washington, DC April 16, 2013) As expected, the Gang of Eight’s long-anticipated immigration plan offers sweeping amnesty for illegal aliens, even greater access to low-wage labor for business interests, and more worthless promises of border security and workplace enforcement, charged the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR).

Senate leadership is now poised to rush this voluminous piece of legislation to the floor with minimal hearings and little opportunity for members to offer amendments. “Having spent months working on this bill in secret, there is now a clear effort afoot to make sure that the American people do not find out what is in it until after it becomes law,” said Dan Stein, president of FAIR.

What is in the bill:

Amnesty for virtually all illegal aliens within six months of enactment.
A directive to the Obama administration to create a five-year plan to secure the border — a core function of the executive branch that Congress should not have to dictate.
Empty promises of border security based on measures already required by law.
Hundreds of thousands of new skilled and low-skilled workers each year, despite historically high levels of unemployment and the lowest labor force participation rate in more than three decades.
“Simply put, Congress has no business even introducing amnesty legislation until the Obama administration secures the border, sets forth clear and transparent metrics to measure its success, and demonstrates to the American people it is serious about enforcing our immigration laws across the country. Border security and the rule of law should not be held hostage to amnesty for illegal aliens. The fact that Congress has to legislatively order the Obama administration to develop a plan to secure the border should be an embarrassment for this president, not something to be welcomed with pride,” Stein stated.

“Nevertheless, the Senate Gang of Eight has finally announced a bill, one that will rob American workers and taxpayers — all to please special interests. This legislation is all about satisfying the demands of illegal aliens and their advocates for amnesty and providing business interests access to low-wage foreign labor.

“Through this bill, the Senate Gang of Eight is offering the American people nothing except recycled promises of better enforcement far in the future. And from the details available, we can be certain that these promises will not be kept either. The programs that grant amnesty to illegal aliens and a steady supply of low-wage labor will be implemented, regardless of whether the border is secure,” continued Stein.

“The Washington and Wall Street elite have the bill they want. Now it is time for the American people to have their say,” Stein noted. “Over the coming weeks, FAIR and other groups dedicated to immigration reform that protects the interests of Americans will be mounting a full-scale effort to educate the public about this bill’s blatant attempt to favor special interests at their expense and to mobilize opposition.

“At a time when the American people are deeply concerned about their jobs, the state of our economy, and dangerous government deficits, we are likely to see the public respond negatively to this expensive and unnecessary legislation. Over the coming weeks and months, every member of Congress will have to explain to angry constituents why the interests of illegal aliens and cheap labor employers are being given precedence over the most essential interests of American workers and taxpayers.

“Congress will have a hard time justifying this special interest sell-out to the American people,” Stein predicted.
