Immigration Bill 'Worse Than We Thought,' Legalizes Relatives and Previously Deported
CNSNews ^ | 04/17/2013 | Craig Bannister

Posted on 04/17/2013 5:40:45 PM PDT by izzatzo

Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas) said today that the Senate immigration bill is even worse than feared, since it legalizes illegals' relatives and even those previously deported:

"It's hard to believe, but the Senate immigration bill is worse than we thought. Despite assurances, the border is not secured before almost everyone in the country illegally is given amnesty. The bill guarantees there will be a rush across the border to take advantage of massive amnesty."

Rep. Smith says the Senate immigration bill shreds current immigration laws:

"And the Senate proposal offers amnesty to far more illegal immigrants than we thought. In addition to most of the 11 million illegal immigrants already in the country, the bill offers to legalize the relatives of illegal immigrants outside the U.S. and even others who have already been deported back home. So current immigration laws are shredded.

"The Senate bill is bad news for the American people. The good news is that the House Judiciary Committee will come up with a better plan that improves our immigration system and puts the interests of American workers

Marco, you've sold us out, proved yourself to be in the same category as McCain and Graham.

Rubio's on Mark Levin's show right now, talking as fast as he can make his mouth move. He's a real used car salesman.

Sounds a bit defensive as well.

I’m not listening, but if anyone can pin him down it will be Mark Levin.

He’s doing a good job of stopping Rubio and making him answer relevant questions. Rubio is bobbing & weaving & not answering. He is never at a loss for words, though.

Rubio campaigned on legalizing those who violate our immigration laws.

Why anyone is surprised is beyond me.

This forum needs to get over Republicans, the GOP is dead.

Whether they vote or not, they are needed as cover for the vote cheating which keeps the democrips in power. Smoke and mirrors and another racial group profiled as saps for exploiting.

Levin did well. IMO he wasn't buying what Marco was selling.

After this interview and Rubio's shuck & jive performance I'm 100% certain he isn't being had by the other members of the Gang of Eight - he knows exactly what the effect of this 'reform' will be, thinks he'll somehow benefit from it and is lying to his conservative supporters.

I sent the following letter to both of my senators:

Dear Senator _________,

I am opposed to S. 744, the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act and strongly encourage you to vote against this bill when it comes to a floor vote in the Senate. Politicians from both political parties are treating American citizenship as though it were a prize to be won on a TV game show. It is not. In no other country on earth is illegal immigration treated as lackadaisically as it is here in America. In Mexico, illegal immigrants are first sentenced to a term in prison before being deported to their home country. They are not rewarded with offers of citizenship, reduced or even free college tuition or access to public health and welfare institutions as we currently do with illegal immigrants.

Many claim that the illegal immigrants only seek a better life in America and are doing no harm. However, simply coming uninvited to America is a crime because they are ignoring and violating both our national sovereignty as well as our existing immigration laws. In addition, for many to obtain work, they purchase forged Social Security cards or other false documentation indicating that they are legal residents of the United States. These forged/falsified documents are violations of federal laws to which members of both political parties turn a blind eye.

The fact is that by refusing to enforce existing laws and imprisoning or deporting illegal immigrants, we are encouraging more to come. Many more. And, come they have bringing diseases, crime and questionable backgrounds that are increasingly burdening law enforcement. In many places, the “catch and release” programs only encourage additional crimes and are an insult to American citizens who would not be eligible for the same treatment. And, none of these equate to the drain that illegal immigrants have placed on our social, health and welfare services that have caused many cities and states to increase taxes in order to be able to continue providing these services to the American taxpayers who pay for them.

Above all, Senator, I have reached my limit of being treated like a foreigner in my own country. Everywhere I turn, there are Spanish language commercials on radio and television channels as well as Spanish billboards, and both English and Spanish labels on items available on store shelves. More often than not, because many store stocking positions are held by Spanish Speakers, it is not uncommon for an item to be placed on a store shelf with the Spanish label to the aisle and the English label to the back of the shelf.

Finally, I would also ask why the federal government requires that election ballots be printed in both English and Spanish? One of the requirements of a naturalized American citizen is that he/she be able to speak, read and understand conversational English. That being the case, why is it necessary to print election ballots in any language other than English? The taxpayers could save a lot of money each election if ballots were printed only in the traditional language of the United States, English!

Thank you, Senator.

Knowing what I do about Mark Levin, he isn’t letting him get away with the double talk and lies.

I was particularly annoyed with Rubio b.s. argument that the status quo would ultimately cost more than implementing immigration reform. And legalizing illegals would save money? What kind of math did Rubio learn in Catholic school?

Rubio has either a foolish and sincere belief in the ability of the government to secure our borders or he is just cynical and deep down in his heart that just like 1986, there will no intention of serious enforcement. I’m going with the cynical side of Rubio on this one.

Sorry, Marco no sale. You can keep your lemon of an immigration crap sandwich. I think Mark was not buying it either.

The part on Levin about the 2006 border fence bill was enlightening - did it enlighten Marco? What happened to the fence, Mark asked? Marco answered that the law was considerably weakened in 2008.

McFLY! Marco! Don't you think any enforcement provisions in this bill will be gutted out of the bill after the midterms?

This was the theme to Levin's questions - the govenrment promised all this before so we know any promise of future enforcement isn't worth the air it takes to form the words.

Marco's quick-step of non-answers reeked of dishonesty.

The amnesty bill in its current form will legalize at least 30 million people. If you accept the low estimate of 12 million illegals currently in the country (I think it is closer to 20 million) and then you account for immediate family — spouses, kids, etc., I think the final figure will be well over 30 million and could approach 50 million newly legalized citizens. Our current official population is around 300 million. That means, within a few years of this bill’s passage, 1/6 - 1/5 of all our population will be composed of newly legalized, formerly “undocumented” people. No country can absorb such a large group of people, many of them poorly educated and inadequately acculturated, and not be permanently transformed into something completely different. I believe this is betrayal of all current American citizens by a ruling elite that seeks to either gain politically or exploit economically from the arrival of all these new people. This is an existential moment in our country’s history. If this bill is not significantly watered down and balanced by assured border enforcement this republic will never be the same. We must fight this with all our might. The politicians who vote for this must be challenged in the primaries. If they still win the nomination, we should vote write-in or third party in the general election. If we are going lose so should they. This is not negotiable. No immigration reform of the type being currently advocated and certainly no immigration bills without border enforcement first. No lip service, we want action.

Actually when MR ran in 2010, he certainly wasn’t campaigning in favor of this crap sandwich. In fact he was against illegals getting citizenship. Same thing happened with Mel Martinez in 2004 where he pulled a 180 on this subject.
