I have been a Life member of the NRA since 1957. Back then the NRA was only interested in promoting gun safety and target shooting. When the Jihad against firearms ownership began in the ‘60s, they were slow to react, saying it was “ungentlemanly” to get involved in “that kind of politics”.

After getting suckered into supporting the “one time” 1968 Gun Control Act, they finally realized what kind of odious people they were up against, rolled up their sleeves - and the rest is history.
