Senate Now Voting on Amendments to Gun Legislation

The Senate on Wednesday is debating and will vote on several amendments to S649, the gun legislation bill which Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) introduced last week. One of the first amendments debated and voted on is the amendment by Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Pat Toomey (R-PA) which deals with background checks when purchasing a firearm.

Well, depends on what state you are in. The federal courts currently hold that bans on 11+ magazines are constitutional. Case was Heller II, ban upheld by the DC Circuit, SCOTUS denied cert.

Hi cap magazines are banned in NY and CT, probably other states too.

The problem was, if the federal government didn’t allow them to be sold in this country, there wouldn’t be any to buy in any state. Our senators just stopped that effort. The way it is now, each state can ban them but can’t stop their being made, or imported, and being sold in other states.

I’m from Texas and we won’t ban them but they have to be allowed in the country for us to buy.

I did the same thing. Glad this failed but they will still try.

We must stay engaged!

Thanks for the Vote List. I was under the impression that it was rejected by the Majority.

Instead of 46 Nooses, we need 54. My mistake.

Thanks. Looks like all the amendments failed. Too bad this one did but in the larger picture I’d rather give this one up to have the other ones fail than the reverse.

A minor silver lining in the dark thundercloud that is the Obama regime.
