Recently, Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council reintroduced a tired refrain: Legalized gay marriage could lead to other legal forms of marriage disaster, such as polygamy. Rick Santorum, Bill OReilly, and other social conservatives have made similar claims. Its hardly a new predictionweve been hearing it for years. Gay marriage is a slippery slope! A gateway drug! If we legalize it, then whats next? Legalized polygamy?
We can only hope.
Yes, really. While the Supreme Court and the rest of us are all focused on the human right of marriage equality, lets not forget that the fight doesnt end with same-sex marriage. We need to legalize polygamy, too. Legalized polygamy in the United States is the constitutional, feminist, and sex-positive choice. More importantly, it would actually help protect, empower, and strengthen women, children, and families.
For decades, the prevailing logic has been that polygamy hurts women and children. That makes sense, since in contemporary American practice that is often the case. In many Fundamentalist Latter-day Saints polygamous communities, for example, women and underage girls are forced into polygamous unions against their will.

I don't think the lunkheads promoting gay marriage failed to realize this. In fact, I think it was their objective.
Group marriage is next after polygamy. Why only multiple wives? Communal living.
Polygamy is self punishing.
I agree if by polygamy they mean a man with multiple wives. A woman with multiple men fathering children is just an unwed mother.
Actually as a Christian I think you can make a better case for polygamy than I can divorce. Make marriage until death do you part. If a man can have more than one wife he doesn’t need to divorce. I guarantee you, as in China until 1926 when they outlawed polygamy that first wife could make the second wives’ life a living Hell and probably would.
A step farther - if you have a child with a woman who is not married she is your wife and has claim on then man’s resources.
If a man lives with a woman for more than 90 days or if they have a joint lease on a domicile or bank account, they are married. I laugh at the couples I sometimes meet that have three children together and say “Oh we’re not married”
The problem is that unlike the ancient world where men died young the population is not 60% women and 40% men. So the value of women for wives would rise exponentially because no man wants to marry a sl*t or retired wh*re.
I’d rather see a man be able to have multiple wives that he SUPPORTS than divorce, abandon remarry and then repeat but that is just me
I think this might actually backfire on the progressives
I forgot
In the above scenario adultery would also become a criminal offense. If a man can have more than one wife he has no need to play the field and if he can get another wife the one he has should be motivated to perform.
Yes that is crude and venal but that’s life
They will not rest until you can have sex with your own minor kids.
Hey, I want to marry my wild boar.
Yes, she’s a little overweight, but she’s a hard charger in the sack.
Who has any right to tell me, “No”?
In that case, you want to probably join this group.
America: 2028
- Gay marriage is accepted in thirty-two states.
- People have started to notice 60-year old women moving to Mississippi and using the state laws to marry 15-year old ladies.
- California has started threesome marriages.
- At least two states recognize polygamy.
- A web site has developed that allows ten year old kids to digitally marry other ten year old kids...which all turns legal at age eighteen.
- A TV show has developed, and is about a woman who marries a male ghost.
- A San Francisco city law mandates that no church can conduct a wedding for anyone, unless it’s totally open for all types of marriages.
Who are you to impose your outdated "morality" on me, huh?
Yes, it's sarcasm
To her credit, Miss Keenan is being more intellectually honest than many of her fellow leftists about this issue. Of course when one of the fundamental essentials of marriage(one man to one woman) is eliminated, then another fundamental essential(number of persons involved) is the next logical step. The ultimate goal in all this madness is to destroy the special status of the natural family and replace it with the state.
That’s probably America 2018.
You may be needed in this thread soon...
I have much less against polygamy than I do against Gay marriage.
And no... I’m not a Mormon, nor am I a Muslim.
And...
Who are they to impose their newly formed "morality" on me?
“..Hey, I want to marry my wild boar.
In that case, you want to probably join this group.
..”
Yep, they do that in Europe, and we want to emulate them??!!!
Which two states recognize Polygamy? I thought it was illegal everywhere in the US.
- Jerry Sandusky is granted an early release from prison and hailed for helping those little boys discover their true sexual identity. He goes on a celebrity tour stating with a television appearance on The View.
It had its definite downsides among the tribes and not just the first wife making life a living hell for second wives and beyond. There were cases where rival wives actually killed each other.
Typically, the maximum penalty which could be imposed for such a murder was banishment from the tribe. More often the murderess got off far more lightly by being beaten, having her hair shorn and being forced to sleep outside the teepee for the couple of months or so it required for her hair to grow back.
But more often, they adapted and the Alpha wife, so to speak, enjoyed the help with the household chores far more than she resented sharing her husband. There were also efficiencies from division of labor-- one woman might excel in child care, another in making clothes, a third in food preparation, etc. A man who could organize his wives in such manner might become quite wealthy by tribal standards.
