ThE PERPETRATOR or perpetrators behind the two bombs that exploded within a few seconds of each other near the finish line of the 2013 Boston Marathon are still unknown. But there are working theories. Terrorists often plan their strikes on anniversaries and commemorative dates. Yesterday marked both a patriotic holiday in Massachusetts and Israel Independence Day, which raises the possibility of Islamic terrorism. April 15 is also the deadline for filing federal taxes, which suggests the possibility of homegrown, anti-tax extremists. The pathological possibilities abound at this point.
The Marathon is an uplifting event. It is also a made-for-terrorism event. The presence of live television crews ensures that the evil deed will be broadcast almost immediately throughout the world. Reports indicate that at least three people died as a result of the explosions and at least 140 were injured, some horribly.
The image of the dead and wounded will be burned into the memory of Americans for decades to come.....

I see. Thanks for the further clarification.
Bingo!
Nobody despises marathon runners more than the NAACP...

Well, let's see. Feds apparently have no problem whatsoever with sending in armed, masked teams to assault citizens for the smallest infraction. I think it's quite obvious that they don't have any compunction against killing us. I'm not sure that I would agree with your sentiment.
I don’t think the janitor who cleans the toilets in a federal building is guilty of anything but trying to make an honest living.
Hey, Mrs. Nussbaum had a voucher. In the back seat.
GREAT point, and here in Boston, we have some historical background with anarchists . . . and bombs. Granted, it's 100 year old history, but the anarchists and Galleanists were all very active here with bombing at the close of WWI and into the 1920s.
I don't think it could be the OWS crowd simply because I believe they would've targeted something different, like BoA headquarters on Federal Street, or something in the Financial District. Killing a bunch of innocent civilians would do the exact opposite of rallying people to their cause.
Yeah, when Joe Stack flew his Piper PA-28 into the IRS building in Austin three years ago, the media immediately knew Joe must be a Teabagger, but then his Web site turned out to be left-wing crankery, and the incident went down the memory hole.
9/11 occured on the anniversary of the Battle of Vienna, which marked the end of Islamic expansion into Europe
Once I saw the photos and the clean white smoke I told my wife this was not the usual dark smoke of stuff like gun powder. I also told her about an experience I had when I was a high school senior in 1944. I had designed and built a small scale balsa flying wing with about a three foot wing span. It was to be jet propelled using something like CO2 cartridges. I realized that CO2 would not give the oomph needed. I went to the neighborhood drug store and asked/told the clerk I wanted to buy some ammonium perchlorate and sulfur. The clerk took me the pharmacist who asked for what I wanted the chemicals. I told him I was making a jet engine. He immediately told me no sale and to go find another way to fly my plane. I tried making a catapult out of inner tube rubbers but gave up trying to get the plane to fly across the yard. After two years in the army I went back to school and got my degree in chemical engineering. I still think about that pharmacist who refused to sell me some over the counter drugs/chemicals and I think of the white smoke of solid fuel rockets.
Have you ever seen anything to suggest that it was more than coincidence? I have not.
That isn’t the point. They throw out obviously baseless accusations against the right, do it right back. Make them defend it, not us.
Actually, it really points to the Occupy vermin. Don’t they believe that the rich don’t pay enough? I think April 15th is as much their day as the Tea Party’s.
I don’t think it was an accident that they made joining a militia seem like being in al Qaeda back in the 1990’s, do you?
You ignore the present legislation being rammed through Congress. And, if you think that any defeat of the current attempt to take our weapons is the end of the issue, you have not been paying attention.
Remember, “never let a crisis go to waste”. Watch the other hand. Watch what our government does, not what it says.
you misquote me sir
I wrote Allah - Allah does not equate to God
They are not interchangeable
Ahminejad just announced he didn't "need" nukes.
Would a Persian have terrorist assets attack the annual running of a race which has its origins in commemorating a Greek victory over the Persians?
There is a twisted logic behind this sort of stuff. It'd be pretty rare to just go blow up a bunch of people for the heck of it (our country hasn't slid that far into the abyss, at least not yet).
So, given that every terrorist has a motive, something which irresistably impels them to blow stuff up, the question is one of what that motive is.
Either they are trying to achieve their own specific ends (murder or destruction, usually of specific target(s))...
Send a message to a small group (again, specific targets which would be meaningful to those the message is aimed at, if not the general public)...
Destabilize a government or economy--in which case target selection would reflect their aims by going after specific political figures or key personnel, or be of specific economic or political importance
Or torment a population by causing widespread fear--in which case a target might (or might not be) high profile in that it would be well attended by media, but the apparent randomness of the attack is the key to causing panic.
As inhuman as their techniques are, terrorists will be subject to the inherent self-exposure of motive which will be reflected in their target.
"Tax Day" would target the IRS or a tax collecting agency, Israel's Independence Day would target something more closely related to Israel, and political protest per se would target politicians, even more than the crowd.
The targeting of a widely televised event guarantees news coverage. The targeting of the crowd is likely to send a message that individuals are helpless in the face of the bombers, unprotected despite normal precautions, and that is aimed at rattling everyone--especially those entrusted with public safety, because the perpetrators are crapping on America's front lawn.
While there are plenty of groups who would crap on our front lawn, this has the hallmarks of a Middle Eastern style attack, aimed at causing loss of face rather than a specific political goal.
But then, now we see through a glass darkly...
That said, it also ignored the connection between Nichols' wife (Phillipina) and possible connections with Abu Sayef in a Khobar Towers style vehicle bomb as the alleged cause of the Murraugh Building Collapse.
Then, too, over 100 accounts of something rising up before Flight 800 came down, intersection the flight path, from witnesses on the ground, in the air, and on the water were ignored while we were sold a cartoon telling us the center fuel tank blew up. The journalists who snitched a strip of recovered seat fabric which tested positive for PETN residue were incarcerated for their efforts and we were all told it was a leftover from testing bomb sniffing dogs. Yeah, right.
The Clinton administration did all it could to ignore Islamic terrorism, and tried to deflect that which it could not ignore onto "Right-Winged" groups. Within hours of the Okalhoma City bombing he was apologizing to CAIR and the hunt for the John Does stopped.
The necessary military expenditures could not be made for a war the administration had no idea how to conduct and still damage the military he and Hillary continue to hold in contempt.
It was not until there was an undeniable act of Islamic terrorism on our shores with readily visible attribution that there came a reaction, and by then (thankfully) the Clintons were out.
