Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Fox News' "Hannity" discussing universal background checks:
-snip-
"Why is all this focus directed at background checks? The reason is because the Department of Justice has said the only way to implement what they wantuniversal background checksis a registry, a federal list of every gun owner in America. And that would be wrong; it'd be unconstitutional."

Yet we have a resident of the White House who is a cons-ta-two-shun-all scholar (yea, right) who has the idiot hand-out majority believing he is da king of em all.
All he says is believed and supported by the media and unfortunately a majority of voters. We can continue to shout reality about the constitution, but reality nowadays seems to be based on opinion. :-(
Apparently the GOP controlled House, led by Paul Ryan is starting to back gun control. If so, I am through with the GOP and will vote libertarian.
“if the court says its constitutional,
theres nothing else to say.”

Ted Cruz is the only republican senator you can actually believe when he says something.
Look for people to hid their guns, thus not complying.
Revolt is coming.
What Good Can a Handgun Do Against An Army?

Do you people honest think that the records of your NICS check for every gun you bought legally, REALLY disappeared from the FBI database? Fools. They cannot admit that they keep it, because they are prohibited by Congress from keeping it; but it’s all a part of the federal archives, and as soon as they get universal checks, (so there is a more comprehensive data set) all those records are going to be put to use. Anyone who ever worked in the federal government knows that records DON’T go away.
Well I agree and again point you to the article I linked about LIES and gun registries. They already have the data. The trick is to have us think that only the licensed firearms dealer is keeping the records for 20 years for crime scene analysis.
The Supreme Court is not quite the final arbiter. Since government derives its just powers from the consent of the governed, we - the people - have the final say. It may not be pretty, but at that point the more than 100 million armed Americans have to decide whether they liked Schindler's List or prefer a country in which the police and military are not the only ones with guns.
It serves no positive purpose to discuss how each individual would decide that issue, not in a public forum, but I sincerely hope the gun-grabbing leftists are keeping that final question in their minds. They cannot count on Justice Roberts as the final word in an unconstitutional power grab, not when they are crossing this line.
Does anyone have any doubts whatsoever... that if the feds had a national registry of all gun-owners in America.... that somehow that info would be leaked just as it has via state or county registration info? I sure as hell don’t doubt it.
Hell....it would probably be leaked to and published by the New York Times....just like other classified (supposedly private) info has been leaked by them.
And at that point, the ‘real’ targeting of conservatives would begin.
You are exactly right. Some fat deputy will knock on your door. He’ll be wheezing from walking from the car to your front steps.
The “gun grabbing leftist” watched as Roberts allowed obabacare and everyone accepted it. They believe everyone will accept gun confiscation. And, sadly, I’m not so sure they’re wrong.
The only thing that will stop this is someone like Tex Cruz leading millions of “hunters” marching on D.C.
There is a huge difference here, and I don't mind saying so in a public forum that the leftists monitor, not if I choose my words appropriately. ObamaCare is evil but reversible, and decent Americans hope to repeal it through additional appeals to the Court, through the ballot box, or through some other approved procedure. Disarmament is permanent and irreversible. That really is the final line in the sand.
I don't know whether 1% or gun owners, 3% of gun owners, or 10% of gun owners will be in the first group to remind the thugs in DC where their power originates, but the 70,000,000 background checks since Obama seized power suggest to me that it will not be 0% or so trivial a number that the far left can possibly win. No decent people will be on the same side as Obama/Pelosi/Bloomburg. The split will be between those who take written law seriously and knowingly defer even to evil and unconstitutional laws, and those who take the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution as seriously as the Founding Fathers did. Most of us will not turn in our guns. Most of us will not register our guns. Unlike the Brits, many of us will not meekly hide our guns passively when the far left attempts to take this step.
I hope you’re right. If enough people resist I believe the leftists will back down. At least for a while. But if nothing is done, as has been the case for decades, they will keep coming. And most of the people on the other side will be hurded onto the cattle cars along with surviving patriots. Sadly, those on the other side think we’re all crazy.
I’m sure we all hope they back off.

I hope after all they do they believe that is all we have. I believe in surprises.
