The Louvre was closed Wednesday after its workers walked off their jobs to protest what is said to be a rising problem of pickpockets haunting the famed Paris museums vast galleries.
Louvre spokeswoman Sophie Grange was unable to say when the museum, which normally attracts up to 30,000 visitors a day at this time of year, would reopen. Museum staff organized the protest to draw attention to the problem, which they say is hindering their ability to welcome visitors and protect the Louvres collections.

“Louvre workers walk off job over pickpockets”
Hope they didn’t leave any footprints on them....
Same thing with the Eiffel Tower . . . my daughter had her wallet stolen, went to the police on the tower, and the police said, very nonchalantly, they’d check on it later. My conclusion: As long as the pickpockets pay off the cops, there ain’t nuttin’ anybody can do about it.
Temporary bans for repeat offenders?
I’m sure, absolutely sure, that there is not a particular ethnicity responsible for the vast majority of the picking. It isn’t possible in this PC/MC Best Of All Possible Worlds.
I should be going home soon.
It wasn’t too very long ago Sarkozy was receiving hell from the MSM for trying to deport Rom from France. I’ll bet no small percentage of these pickpockets hail from the Gypsy camps.
“Temporary bans for repeat offenders? “
I caught that too. Boy, that’ll sure teach those darn pickpockets, won’t it?
I knew this would come up.
Yes, the lower class Gypsies pickpocket.
The upper class Gypsies, like my wife, deftly steal chips from drunks at the blackjack tables in Vegas.
Glad to clear that up for you.
