WASHINGTON Several Senate Republicans on Tuesday came out publicly against filibustering the first major gun control legislation since 1993 before it is even brought up for debate on the Senate floor, as advocates inched toward breaking a conservative blockade of the measure.
((snip))
Were moving forward on this bill, said Mr. Reid, who earlier Tuesday invoked his own fathers suicide by gunshot to implore consideration of the legislation, which would expand background checks for gun buyers, bolster school safety and crack down on people who purchase firearms for those who are not entitled to own them. The American people deserve a vote on this legislation.

My Father’s sage advice to me:
NEVER vote for a democrat, and FGS, NEVER marry one.
Unfortunately, Republicans also want absolute power: remember the Patriot Act.
Those who support even more restrictive gun laws are Americas enemies, and they pose a clear and present danger to our freedom
And when was the last time you heard any serious talk, in either main party, about repealing GCA and/or NFA? What about third parties?
I doubt it
Sarah endorsed Queeg too
In other words the republicans caved...I expected as much.
BOHICA folks the GOPe are fixin to do it to us again.
Because it is not about background it is really registration, no matter how loudly they say it isn't. Remember we caution our kids about putting things on facebook, same applies to us, once it is in a computer it is there forever.
Wow, I would like some of the drugs that they have in the US Senate...mind altering and legal.
Conservatives have been looking for a hero for decades. We latched on to Palin because she seemed like the Great Right Hope. We can console ourselves that at least she's not turning out like the Second Coming of Crist, as Rubio seems to be.
Generally I would agree. However, when I met and married Mrs 40 she was a dem, a member of the Sierra Club, a member of the teachers' union, and was very active in local liberal/democrat politics. Since marrying me I have opened her eyes. She has quit the Sierra Club, become a Life Member of the NRA, registered as a Republican until, like me, she registered as an Independent in 2007, retired from teaching and is very active in local politics that promote conservative causes i.e, San Diego Tea Party. So your dad's advice may be sound but it has exceptions. Of course, FR had it's affect as I share much information I find here with her. :-)
Agenda. The gun control canard is nothing more than a cover story for the agenda of citizen control - totalitarianism.
Unfortunately most are to naive to understand the things they view & hear. Pity for the resst of society as they bear the brunt of the suffering.
I reckon my Dad thought males were more stubborn, but what would I know about THAT?
LOL
lol! Point taken.
The patriot Act, to the extent that it violated the 4th and 5th Amendments was wrong and should be repealed. GCA/NFA violate the 2nd Amendment and should be repealed - let people have silencers and short-barreled rifles, but punish them severely if they use any weapons for crime. And, no, I don't hear the GOP leadership standing up for the Constitution as much as they should. The GOP is not nearly as bad as the Democrats, but they make no effort to recover lost freedoms when they have an opportunity.
At this point I really cannot argue with that statement.
Hope the RNC sends letters asking for money.....I am running low on toilet paper.
This is from the NY times.
All of you are believing anything they say?
how long have you all been on this site?
yeah the NY times would never think of dividing Republicans with fake info would they?
what do you base that on , this article from the NY times?
pitiful
Long time GI!
Looks like the GOP is about to cave again. Here is hoping the House GOP stands firm..
