Baroness Thatcher to receive ceremonial but not state funeral
Baroness Thatcher will receive a ceremonial funeral with full military honours at St Pauls Cathedral, it has been announced.
The funeral will have official status, similar to that accorded to the funeral of the Queen Mother, but it will not be a full state funeral in line with her own wishes and those of her family.
Lady Thatcher will not lie in state and there will be no military fly-past.
Full details of the ceremony will be announced in coming days but Downing Street said a wide and diverse range of people and groups with connections to Lady Thatcher would be invited.
The statement added: The service will be followed by a private cremation. All the arrangements being put in place are in line with wishes of Lady Thatcher's family.
On the day of the funeral, Lady Thatchers coffin will begin its journey from the Chapel of St Mary Undercroft in the Palace of Westminster, the place she dominated for more than a decade.

I would think she would be entitled to the same honors Winston Churchill got for his funeral in 1965.

Found the charity mentioned in Lady Thatcher's obituary for donations in lieu of flowers:
The Royal Hospital Chelsea ^ Few British institutions can boast three centuries of unbroken service, and none is closer to the heart of the nation than 'The Men in Scarlet', the Chelsea Pensioners.
Their home, the Royal Hospital Chelsea, was founded in 1682 by King Charles II to provide soldiers with a fitting home in their retirement.
There is a Donation Link on the right side for our use.

but it will not be a full state funeral in line with her own wishes I respect her wishes but wish that she could have been sent off in high state.
May the Lord hold you tenderly Maggie Thatcher.
You were a fine lady in every sense of the word.

I will be interested in seeing if Brits react the way Americans did when Reagan died.

The least the House of WIndsor could do is loosen up the purse strings a bit for a state funeral. Have they learned nothing from the Diana fiasco? Let her lie in state like Winston

I would think she would be entitled to the same honors Winston Churchill got for his funeral in 1965. Her family specifically requested she not have a State funeral from her requests. Probably part of her humility.

Note: I googled “the lady is not for turning” and clicked on one of the results because I wanted to get further information on the quote. And I got a virus which took me two hours to remove. So look out.

Details of the Funeral
The day before the funeral, Lady Thatchers coffin will be moved to the Chapel of St Mary Undercroft in the Palace of Westminster, the place she dominated for more than a decade. There will be a short service after its arrival and the coffin will rest in the chapel overnight.
The following day a hearse will transport it from Westminster to St Clement Danes, the central church of the Royal Air Force, on the Strand in central London.
There, it will be transferred to a gun carriage for the journey to St Pauls, with the route lined by members of the three Armed Services.
At the cathedral, the coffin will be met by a guard of honour and pensioners from the Royal Hospital. Members of the three Services will then bear it into St Pauls for the funeral service.
As well as family and friends, politicians who served in Lady Thatchers cabinets are expected to attend alongside current Cabinet and shadow cabinet members.
The service will be followed by a private cremation in Mortlake, south-west London. It is believed that Lady Thatcher had asked that her ashes be laid to rest alongside those of her husband, Sir Denis, in the cemetery of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea.

Does anyone read even the excerpts here? She did not want that level of attention. It’s nobody’s fault. I wish we’d get the whole shebang but she said she doesn’t.
