(CNSNews.com) - Hours after the BBC reported the death of conservative British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on Monday, President Barack Obama still had not issued a statement on her passing.
But last week, within half an hour of film critic Roger Ebert's death, the White House tweeted a statement from the president.
As of 10:00 a.m. EDT on Monday, there was still silence from the White House on Thatcher's death, which the BBC tweeted at 4:49 a.m.

He’s a hybrid...real mother is a jackal. And we know where his true daddy comes from.
Well over five and a half hours now.
Just when you think he can't get any lower, he digs another basement level . . .
So far nothing from anyone in this administration or any of the Clintons either which I find surprising because they are usually better at protocol for these type of events.
Yup. This is deliberate and meant as an insult.
Hollywood (even to include Ebert) is part of the Communist machine. They are comrades to Obama.
2 X OMG!!!
You’re not supposed to say that kind of stuff here...
He’s saying F-U to you...and to Reagan...but apparently you can’t read between the lines.....
So it’s OK with you for the president to show more respect for a Chicago film critic than to the former head of state of our closest ally in the world???
He’s still working on a way to get increased taxes in the speech.
Within moments of the death of Hugo Chavez, obama made a statement.
Don’t want any ‘flowry words’ from this turd.
His belief and his action speak louder than any statement he could have released.
But if anyone is skeptical, I suppose they can wait a short while until Nelson Mandela dies. I think Obama will issue a statement on that event about as fast as he did with Ebert.
Some foreign politicians are more equal than others.
He couldn’t get out a statement of condolences fast enough for Chavez.
Well of course. The newly deceased “film critic” was a liberal. Thacher was a normal person.
The teleprompter has to be loaded first and the person preparing the speech called in sick today.
Obamagabe is not fit to be mentioned in the same sentence
with Margaret Thatcher. She was a great intellectual, one of the greatest, bravest politicians of the 20th Century. He’s a paperhanging, coke-snorting nothing.
All you need to know of Obama’s feelings toward Great Britain is clearly explained in Dinesh D’Souza’s book, The Roots of Obama’s Rage. Obama keeps his hatred of colonialist GB alive through the dreams of his father, communist Obama Sr.
This all goes back to Obama’s appalling act of returning the bust of Winston Churchill back in the early days of his presidency. He hates the British and probably celebrates Lady Thatcher’s death.
Obama is busy.... it takes time and effort to destroy a country.
