After a full year of fruitless job hunting, Natasha Baebler just gave up. Shed already abandoned hope of getting work in her field, counseling the disabled. But she couldnt land anything else, eithernot even a job interview at a telephone call center. Until she feels confident enough to send out resumes again, shell get by on food stamps and disability checks from Social Security and live with her parents in St. Louis.
It isnt supposed to be this way. After a recession, an improving economy is supposed to bring people back into the job market. Instead, the number of Americans in the labor forcethose who have a job or are looking for onefell by nearly half a million people from February to March, the government said Friday. And the percentage of working-age adults in the labor forcewhats called the participation ratefell to 63.3 percent last month. Its the lowest such figure since May 1979.

? ? ?
I thought that was for people that can't work.
.
WTF!!!!!
WHY IS THIS TWIT GETTING DISABILITY????
I really think we should have mandatory 20 hr /week work doing public service for these lazy jerks! Like they have some local jail inmates doing; cleaning the highways, cleaning public porta-potties, sweeping the sidewalks.
that might “inspire “ this jerk to get some work.
What is Natasha’s disability? Being stupid enough to vote for Obama twice? We will never get the millions of suddenly “disabled” to get off the gravy train.
Who better to “counsel the disabled” than somebody receiving a disability check.
Not enough jobs for the millions that would like to work. She is not to blame but King Obama and his communists empire is!
What is Natashas disability?
Depression and not being able to get a decent job
You just can’t even make this stuff up.
She is living with her parents for crying out loud...I just can’t go on ...its all mind numbing and I drag my butt out every am —early!—to go to work!
Ha..and if you think I could find any cleaning help...forget it..they’re all on disability or welfare or unemployment.
There goes I but for the Grace of God.
Nuff said
She's not a good example for this writing.
Well, maybe if they cut off the gravy train and offered “work programs” like during the depression( none of which our Generation X or Y or whatever would tolerate)..these idiots would FINALLY figure out WHO is the cause of their problems.
From the article:
>>Many older Americans who lost their jobs are finding refuge in Social Security’s disability program. Nearly 8.9 million Americans are receiving disability checks, up 1.3 million from when the recession ended in June 2009.<<
7X increase? God, it MUST be voting for obozo is classified as a mental disability!
Ok...I now take back all the nasty things I said about THIS woman. If she is blind she deserves disability..no problem at all.
But they would pick someone like this to use in the article.Yeesh.
The pick was deliberate...a sucker punch...cute.huh...
SSDI is going to be insolvent in another few years anyway. I really feel for the people that are in genuine need and that it was originally designed to serve.
she is probably not a good candidate to pick up roadside trash... or even cleaning toilets... kind of weird to make her the subject of this article...
There you go again, ruining a bunch of perfectly good rants.
i know! journalists today are just no good... i could see if the writer tried to compare "regular Joes" who can't find a job with those who have disabilities... but the writer didn't even come from that angle...
Want to rant? Like i do? Check out the charts here:
Not weird at all....deliberate.
You really can’t criticize these entitlements if the person is Blind, for crying out loud.
But what about the guys who can clearly see the Strippers in the Strip Joints using their welfare debit cards???
"I'm not proud of it," says Baebler, who is in her mid-30s and is blind.
Interesting this is an AP article ... they consistently are touting the improving economy in most articles I read.
