Maryland lawmakers agreed this week to require public school teachers to pay union fees a move that bolsters the states connection to organized labor as others move toward a right-to-work status.
The bill passed Thursday in the General Assembly and is headed to the desk of Democratic Gov. Martin OMalley for signing after Monday, the final day of Marylands 2013 legislative session.
The bill is also part of a larger progressive agenda put fourth this year by leaders of the Democrat-controlled Assembly that includes the approval of tax increases and one of the toughest gun-control proposals in the country.

Just wait for the Commiecare bill.
This ought to be in court within the next year.
More and more, our elected “representatives” represent their own agenda or the agenda of their party. Did these people fail to read or understand the part about the work for us!??
Well, both kinds of arms ~ actually ~ there are enough resource teachers in our schools it's unlikely some crazy Democrat kid is going to bust in and shoot up the third grade! ~ and certainly not the teachers.
Plus, the union bosses don't get a piece of your pay.
And you have to wonder how many of them are receiving kickbacks from unions.
Teachers are always complaining that they don’t make enough money. It doesn’t seem very smart to us non-politician types to force the teachers to pay the knuckledragging, union Neanderthals for the right to teach.

Grounds for recall. Thanks Libloather.
Democrats in Maryland are running wild.
Gas taxes, gun bills, same sex marriage, right to work i9f you belong to the Union.
Our Governor —well there is no other word for it He is a piece of excrement, and there are enough Obama voters here that the rest of the Dems are stuck to his ass like sucker fish.Democrats stopped worrying about right or wrong, the Constitution, or hat is best for the State long ago. All they want is to get re-elected suck us dry, and live off our taxes.
.... Maryland ping potential for you.
“Teachers are always complaining that they dont make enough money.”
Here in NJ Governor Christie shut them up after their slaries were posted by the Asbury Park Press; until that moment most people had no idea how much more money teachers were making than those of us with real full-time jobs that required at least as much schooling (in jobs where you had to produce results). Teachers here have withdrawn amongst themselves and other gubmint workers, often intermarrying with police and firemen; nobody else can relate to them, and taxpayers often openly resent them.
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
The only way goonions still survive is through this kind of legislative tyranny. What does is say about goonions that people have to be forced by law to be a part of them?
Hate to disagree with you but, without a revolution (CW2) to overthrow the leftist pinheads running our country, I don't see that as a reality.
The left has been focusing on winning through cheating over the past several election cycles and zero has perfected the craft. This past election proves it.
In addition, politicians in both parties are cowards who are afraid to challenge those in power. Thus, the GOP doesn't raise a stink about the thugocracy tactics employed by zero and his administration.
The fact is that the "takers" in our society have learned the truth about that prophecy that when the people learn they can use the power of government to get things for themselves, they will. This is where we are. We have a communist tyrant in office who employs his community organizer skills to attract the "bottom feeders" in our society to keep him in power so he can wreck the freest country on earth. They aren't interested in the big pictrure as long as they have their Obamaphone and "free" healthcare.
We have reached a point that we can no longer correct these problems at the ballot box. The red states will either have to secede and form a conservative coalition or there will have to be an out and out revolt. I see no other way to restore America to the country the Founding Fathers envisioned.
The current situation is unsustainable, in fact the Cloward and Piven strategy of Obama depends on that. DHS is preparing for massive internal strife, with mine resistant vehicles with gun ports in them.
Seems to me, that with the massive gun sales in America since the illegal president began trashing the Constitution that the people of America are getting ready for the same thing.
Only question is, what side of the fence is the DHS if a Constitutional Crisis develops.
Good question, but it's only half of a two-parter: where will the military side?
IMO, the administration will probably try to get both DHS and the military convinced that WE are the enemy in a "rah-rah"-style "pep" rally in preparation for the strife. Initially, it will appear as though BOTH DHS AND the military support zero's side of things until the shooting begins. Once that happens and it dawns on these folks what they are doing, I believe that the majority will join us and abandon the administration.
But, admittedly, that's conjecture. We won't know how it will go down until it happens. The build-up of arms, ammo and "hardened" vehicles should give ordinary citizens pause for concern. Unfortunately, there is such a massive disconnect between John and Jane Average Citizen and what the government is doing, they won't understand it until it happens.
History provides us with a lot of clues, but I don't think it can give us a clear picture of the outcome. People will do a lot of things to remain employed and keep a steady paycheck coming so they can feed their families and maintain their lifestyle. But, will that be enough to make them fire on their fellow American?? Don't know. In essence, those who revolt will be doing the same thing. The difference is that we will be doing it for a principle, they will be doing it for a paycheck.
That's what makes it hard to call.
