indeed...God Bless Them. They are becoming fewer, as their ranks are thinning.

I grew up in a Jewish neighborhood in Boston, Complete with Kosher butchers, synagogues on every corner, and a local Yiddish newspaper.

There was another barber on Blue Hill Av, too. He was Leonard Nimoy’s dad. Leonard attended the Orthodox Synagogue Mishkin T’fillah, which practiced the Priestly Blessing at Rosh Hashanah. Leonard, who was not yet Bar Mitzvah, was not supposed to look at the Cohan’s HANDS. But he sneaked a peek, and the gesture turned into the Vulcan Salute, many years later.

I worked in a kosher nursing home, and Leonard would come and visit a family friend there on occasion. And William Shatner’s wife (the one that died), went to high school with my sister. She was gorgeous.

So you are right about lives touching.

Live long and prosper.

I liked him as readon, but his voice was a little muddled in the move. (Or maybe it was my hearing loss?) But I was glad to have the subtitles.

And the actor who played Paul Larkin in Part 1 also has a recurring role in “Californication”.

Remember James William Guercio, producer of the Buckinghams? That act was just a warmup for this jazz-rock fusion band. They went through a number of iterations, one of them being Al Kooper’s group. But Kooper was forced out, along with a few others, and the band reconfigured around vocalist David Clayton-Thomas. Guercio picked up this song from Motown, originally recorded two years earlier by Brenda Holloway. It came in at #4 and was their first big splash.

I loved Duchovney in “The X Files” but never watched the other show.

So, in your opinion, do you think the actors did this movie as a labor of love, or was it perhaps just a “job”. It would be interesting to know that.

Sidenote: This progressive rock trio out of Germany in the school of Emmerson, Lake & Palmer with a touch of Supertramp, produced some fine music back in the mid-seventies.

The actors in both movies were not paid salaries. They are getting a share of the net proceeds. So for these people, it's a labor of love.

The actor who played Larkin has made a career out of playing gay characters, which is what he plays on "Californication". In fact he is gay. For the role of Paul Larkin, it's a labor of love.

Likewise, the woman who played Mrs. Hastings in Part 1 (Dagny's search for the creator of the motor) played the dead grandmother in "The Ghost Whisperer". Again a labor of love.

Watch this space in a few weeks when Billthedrill and I have our book on "Atlas" ready for Kindle marketed through Amazon.

You’re welcome. I have some off theme requests coming up for Texas Eagle, but yours was too easy since it was already on the playlist.

”Hair” was an amazingly successful musical. I’ve regaled the Canteen with the story of my interview with James Rado and Gerome Ragni, two of the three who wrote the musical. Rado was a nice guy, but Ragni was an SOB, bouncing insults off my ROTC uniform. A few weeks later, some idiot at the college radio station recorded over that interview, and I could have strangled him. This was one of the most successful renditions of a song from “Hair”, the title song, which came in at #18 on its way to the Top 10.
