On the one hand, I agree with the conventional wisdom that Lil’ Kim 3 just wants more appeasement. He and particularly the elites in his country are not stupid: They see Obama in the White House, Kerry in State and Hagel in Defense. This crew makes Clinton/ Albright, who got snookered into giving Lil Kim 2 a nuclear power plant, like Attilla the Hun.

On the other hand, we must be concerned about a hot war breaking out, for two reasons.

First, the Norks’ removal of diplomatic channels of communication and general saber-rattling INCREASES THE CHANCE OF A HURRIED, MISTAKEN DECISION by either side to attack or counter-attack, setting off a full-scale “accidental” war.

Second, there is a risk of “on purpose” war by the Norks. Specifically, Lil Kim 3 may be painting himself into a corner. If he realizes that he’s going to get assassinated if he backs down from more and more specific promises to annihilate his enemies, he just may figure, What the hey, TOP OF THE WORLD, MA! and launch everything he has.

EMP - comming to a large North American nation near you.

Here is a link to a lengthy and frightening analysis of the EMP threat at Arutz Sheva. How close to, or far off, the mark is it? Beats me. However, even if we knew for a certainty that it would happen on April 10th, there would few steps, if any, to take now to prevent it; without at least relative certainty we seem unlikely to do anything useful. After such an attack? Maybe nuke Pyongyang, but that wouldn't help us much.

A small point: Korea is thirteen hours ahead of the U.S. East Coast. Since the warning for April 10th was directed to embassies in Pyongyang, it seems reasonable to assume that they referred to Korean time, suggesting that whatever they had in mind could occur on April 9th in Washington, D.C.

Put my hand-crank radio, my generator electrical parts, and a few other nice-to-haves in a Faraday cage (and keep them there 'cause they should already be in there, dammit).

Yes a hot war would be bad, especially for South Korea, and potentially us if Fat Kim lobbed some kind of fission materialed device over to the CONUS.

That’s not what worries me. What worries me is that you got your martial law scenario waiting in the wings, especially if they demolish/poison a city if significant size.

Heads freakin’ up people.

Good idea. But what stations would you be able to receive on your radio? Internet on your computer? Etc.

"But what stations would you be able to receive on your radio?"

The whole nation won't go blank - even if it did, we'd still want to hear what Al Jezera (AlGore radio) has to say....

Both China and Russia have massed military units on their border with NK.

That’s to keep the flood of NORK refugees out of their countries.

The new Chinese leadership (they just installed their new leaders for the next 10 years) told boy ruler to pound sand.

“That’s to keep the flood of NORK refugees out of their countries.”

Riiight. They don’t need fighter jets and MBTs for that.

If ~you’d-read-the-article~ you’d see the units their sending are assault units.

I suppose you also know nothing of the NK-China mutual defense pact. Or the new bridge they’ve built over the Yalu.

Mao lost his beloved son to US bombs in Korea. Looks to me like we will reep what we have sown -— We keep forgiving North Korea and not really responding so they think that they can do or say anything and we will give them a pass. The question is this—are we the same Americans as the ones on December 8, 1941 —I think not. TV, welfare, race bating, socialism has rendered us unable to do more than use drones. The World Economy people will want peace at any price to keep the gold rolling in.
