Republican Mike Lee of Utah on Wednesday became the 34th senator to oppose an international treaty that would regulate the $60 billion global small arms trade, giving the opposition enough votes in the U.S. Senate to block its ratification.
I have great concerns that this treaty can be used to violate the Second Amendment rights of American citizens, and do not believe we should sign any treaty that infringes on the sovereignty of our country, Lee said. I am pleased to join 34 of my colleagues in signaling to this administration that the UN-ATT is a non-starter in the Senate.

Interesting that Donnelly (R-Ind) ran as a “blue dog” and actually voted with the Republicans on this one. He just got sworn in and is secure for six years. Not that he’s great or anything; this vote was probably meaningless as he saw which way the wind was blowing and his vote didn’t matter. I don’t expect him to break ranks when Reid really needs his vote. Just saying it’s interesting he actually did the right thing, for whatever reason.
Sorry, I meant Donelly (D-Ind), not “R.”
Still on the first cup of coffee this morning...

Doesn't that mean he's the 35th.

There were 45 republicans that voted against this amendment, all Republicans and 8 democrats joined in.
Kaine (D-VA), Nay
Warner (D-VA), Nay
I see Virginia’s kneepad twins have dutifully voted as directed by their DNC masters.
Bookmark. Thanks for posting.
Johnson (D-SD)
Sounds like he’s deciding to shake any pretense of “moderate-ness” now that he’s retiring next year.
Reid, Cheekbones, Finstein, Boxer, and Durbin are good bets or being for of it..
It only takes 34 Senators to ratify a treaty with a minimum quorum. You can thank Hamilton for that little gem.
Article II, Section 2 Clause 2 of the Constitution says very plainly that it takes "two thirds of the Senators present" to ratify a treaty, not two thirds of the full Senate. With a minimum quorum that's 34 senators, not 67. Anybody who thinks it is beyond Harry Reid to pull a stunt to steal our freedom isn't awake.
If that vote by the dims wasn’t treason, I don’t know what is. Direct violation of the oath of office. A victory for us for sure, but even more evidence that it is TIME.The tree of liberty can’t sustain much more drought.
Add to the usual list of suspects the Obama lapdogs from Delaware, Carper and Coons.
Just get hold of the roll call votes.
Quorum relates to absenteeism. Who was absent? and what are you anticipating?
The Yankees in Neo Europa must be purged from the union. They have ceased being Americam
Treaties have been ratified with NO record of a quorum, by voice vote "in the opinion of the chair, two thirds of the Senators approve." It's been done, more than once, without any record of a committee vote.
If you are willing to hang your freedom on the vain hope that Harry Reid won't pull a procedural stunt like that, I've got bad news for you.
The article is selling a false sense of security. It fails to warn of the hazard. This is a flaw in the Constitution about which Patrick Henry had a fit. Nobody fixed it. And by the way, if you think Obama's signature on the treaty is meaningless, then all I can say is that it's worse than you think.
This is too close. We had better prepare for the worst.
