HARTFORD Gov. Dannel P. Malloy will quickly sign the sweeping gun control law that is expected to be adopted Wednesday, while a firearm lobbyist predicted it will be challenged in court and gun manufacturers continue to weigh their options to move away.
The owner of Stag Arms, Mark Malkowski, said he has had numerous, lucrative offers to relocate to gun-friendly states that he is more seriously considering, particularly if his brand is hurt by passage of the law.
The same analysis was repeated by Jonathan Scalise, president and owner of Ammunition Storage Components.
Both sides on the gun debate are expected to be back at the Capitol for the vote, to again make themselves visible with the National Shooting Sports Foundation arranging bus shuttles from Cabelas in East Hartford and advising them to tell their legislators how they will vote when they are up for re-election.
This is a good moment, Malloy said of the sweeping gun control legislation that bans at least an additional 100 assault weapons, mandates universal background checks, bans magazines with more than 10 rounds and restricts use of currently owned larger magazines.
It requires eligibility certificates for long guns, raises the purchase age for centerfold rifles from 18 to 21 and puts in place the first statewide dangerous offender list, among other things.
The governor, who had been critical of the amount of time it was taking lawmakers to adopt new rules and argued forcefully for a ban on possession of large magazines - which he failed to get - had nothing but praise Tuesday for the leaders who put the deal together.
Its something to be proud of, Malloy said. He called it far reaching (and) arguably the most comprehensive in the country.

I realize that it isn’t as easy as moving out of an apartment and finding a new one, when one talks of moving a business. Howeva’.....
I wouldn’t say S**T. I’d just make my deal, have everyone sign some type of NDA, and one day tell my employees that thanks to their votes for more help from the government, the company is moving to a more friendly environment.
And then Malloy and his ilk will try and fill the void with another company that won’t come, because they’re all moving to states that have a better quality of life. Interesting that those states all seem to be in the South and Midwest and tend to lean a bit to the Right. Just a bit.
See Colorado.
And I’m quite sure that a thorough analysis would take away the margin by which Malloy won. If one has not been to the Bridgeport or Hartford area, I’m quite sure there were lots of folks that voted more than 3x and even more that are recent/undocumented residents of that state. Just sayin’
Just one simple question needed to be asked, publicly, of the promoter.
WERE MSR’s allowed at the show the year before and prior years?
If the answer is, YES. Than their statement about the “sporting traditions” is complete BS. Would have been nice to seem them squirm for an answer.
Is an analysis of the gubernatorial election really relevant here? THE REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP SUPPORTED THIS GUN GRAB! The state is lost, no matter who is in charge.
> raises the purchase age for centerfold rifles from 18 to 21
What’s a “centerfold” rifle?
I’m sure the moron newsey that wrote this meant, “center fire”, but it just goes to show how IGNORANT the news media are.
A few years ago they killed GC leg in committee. People voted for them to do the same again, but sadly they didn’t.
“...I dont blame individual Democrats for this at all. Many are pro gun....”
I do...if they pull the (D) lever when they vote.
There’s enough information, and ways to get that information, the be able to see what and who the Dems have become.
So far, so good. Voting on ECert next

Connecticut = the place to rob rich people.
Revolt is coming down the road.
Texians will teach those libs very, very fast what is ecpected in TX.
Rather I see a parting of the ways which means a breaking up of the USA down the road. It will happen, just like it happened to the old Soviet Union. Give it time.
Plus folks will simply hide their guns, that is all.
People will simply hide their guns.
Over a dozen little children were killed, riling the Legislature to the point of passing a law they otherwise never could have makes for a "good moment." So being a ghoul is now a central requirement of being a Democrat. I think it's been that way for a while....
I don't know why any gun maker would stay in CT. The workers would be making things they themselves can't own.
And more people moving out of CT.
