It may end up costing DHS dearly...hardly what you would call lowering the costs.

These preparations are to wage war on American Citizens. These are not law enforcement levels of ammunition accumulation.

Having that much ammunition arounsd without military security means it is beggng to be stolen....but by whom?

"significantly lower costs."

Believable.
Like the Obama daughters flying coach from the Bahamas to Aspen.

So they just spent $1,000 per uniform for TSA agents. Penny wise, pound foolish.

Aren’t they buying massive quantities of guns and ammo to create a shortage for citizen gun owners?

Yea, I'm sure they think everything is honky dory. They are proving it by buying in bulk when the market for bullets is through the roof.

That makes about as much economic sense as the Obama administration...

"In 2010, the agency purchased 148,314,825 rounds. In 2011, 108,664,054 rounds were purchased; and in 2012, 103,178,200 rounds."

It's estimated that there are somewhere between 200 million ansd 300 million firearms in the US. If just 150 million are fired occasionally, and not in the attic somewhere gathering dust and cobwebs, and if everyone bought one (1) box of 50 rounds for each one since Newtown, that's -- ummmmm 7.5 billion rounds. Since December.

More lies from the Obama administration.

Clearly, the ammunition is to be used against Americans.

Champagne tastes, beer pocketbook. right I believe they wanted to buy high volume to get a cheaper price. buy up all the ammunition so civilians cannot purchase it is the next excuse.

Yea!significantly lower cost right.I’m sure the DHS is preparing to defend the United States from an invasion of the Chinese army. But then again they probably couldn’t defend this country from the invasion of the 11 million illegal alians that are ripping us off blind.

That ammo is to be used on us.

No govt entity has ever bought anything in bulk for the purpose of lowering cost.

ok then lets see their cost/benefit analysis then

What was their projected cost, how much do they expect to save by buying in bulk...

You did PLAN and calculate in order to know it was a cost reduction, right?

Yeah. And the drones, and the MRAPs, and Obama’s speech about having a standing domestic army as big and well-funded as the military are all a cost-saving measure as well- at a time when the government doesn’t seem at all interested in the cost of well...anything that it wants?

Yeah, I’ll believe that.

Well, I’ll just be glad when their 1.4 billion rounds are delivered, so the makers can start shipping to civilians in numbers again.
