Walmart is starting to look like a Soviet-era retailer. The prices are still low, but shelves are going empty for months while products sit unwrapped in storage, lines are interminable, and no one is around to help.
Bloomberg reports that in-store service problems for the worlds third-largest corporation are so bad that people are willing to pony up the extra cash to shop at stores like Target and Walgreens. Walmarts problem, says MIT retail researcher Zeynep Ton, is a shortage of cheap labor:

I have been in numerous wal-marts around the country and am a provider of services to the organization. I have not seen nor do I have any idea what this article is talking about. In fact, as it relates to perishables or grocery - Target has BY FAR, more out-of-stocks than other similar retailers. This looks like hype trying to create a stock price impact.
I live in small rural community and I see no problems with staffing. They are thankful to have a job I guess. I notice bare shelves sometimes but in couple days, all is well. Just seems like they have problems getting the goods. That’s what i think when i see the some bare areas.
Where I live in Texas the shelves are stocked. At times, certain products seems to appear, disappear, and reappear for reasons I don’t understand. However, overall its’ still the cheapest place to shop, so we go there a lot.
Ammunition import licenses are controlled by the BATFE on a shipment-by-shipment basis. If they decide not to license imports, there’s nothing Wal-Mart can do about it.
Just was just at WalMart in Ventura, CA, shelves were full and most registers were open, wonder where this is happening.
The good news is that Wal*Borg always has ammo in stock. The bad news is that there is never anyone there who can unlock the case and actually sell it. There is DUST on the boxes in the locked cases.
If you want workers, pay higher wages or pay less welfare. Do not use this as an excuse to keep the border gates open — that is the most expensive option.
The real solution to all these problems is to take the vote away from non-taxpayers.
Walmart pays their employees more than the minimum wage and supports increases in the minimum wage. The story implied they paid minimum wage. It also called for a carbon tax. Do I detect a Liberal bias?
WalMart = The Mexican Macy’s around here. . .
Maybe I should apply?
It's really not all that hard to pick a lock...
Why should they take a low paying job when the regime will pay them to be layabouts? And give them a free Obamaphone to boot!
Yes they did that to me the other day when I had to go to the restroom.

Start carrying “GONE TO P” placards, or they can place something on the cart to indicate you are in the area.
It is not uncommon to see carts scattered throughout the store.
I would imagine NO one in the store is KNOWINGLY driving away customers, though it wouldn’t surprise me......
None here either, except the ammo shelves.
My favorite Wal*Mart is about 25 minutes away (without traffic) in Leominster (home of Johnny Appleseed, and pronounced Lemon-stir) though there is a closer one in Hudson, the Leominster store is bigger.
People like to make fun of the “people of Wal*Mart”, which is a perverse form of snobbery. There are a lot of economically comfortable older couples (I can name one) who are habitually frugal and like the prices and convenience. You can save a lot on name brand items, and don’t have to buy printer ink by the gallon or milk in 45 gallon drums.
Sure they can. They can publically evicerate the BATFE for this activity.
I haven’t noticed any shelves that are emptier than usual. The Walmart I frequent is next door to Liberty University, so it’s pretty much always scavenged to some degree, LOL. But this store always has about four lanes open with lines stretching into the clothing area.
Walmart is also notorious for discontinuing regular stock items. I shop just as much at Target; they’re just as inexpensive.
My guess would be because there are still a handful of misguided individuals with a modicum of self-respect.
Here in my part of Texas, the Walmart shelves are stocked just fine.
It’s the lack of staffing that makes me not want to work there....the oil boom means restaurants and stores can’t get enough workers basically.
