How do we know that the Obamas pick up the direct costs of these vacations? And how could they afford to? He only makes $400,000 a year, right? She doesn’t have a paying job right now. Both have handed over their law license, so that’s not open to them anymore. They vacation an average of at least once a month, as I understand it.

The media has painted a picture that the economy has recovered and thus, they’re taking vacations just like the rest of us...and, on our side, you don’t hear any of our sens or HRs even bemoaning their vacations. It is frustrating.
One hopeful thing is if you read the comments below small town or even big city mags/rags/internet newspapers, where you expect only big city liberals to respond, you see a lot of comments of pissed off people...

in my own not too limited expierence of entourage travel, comping rooms for the principals is the norm. I'm sure with that traveling circus the Obama daughters have been comped the Bridge Suite and we taxpayers are paying the full freight for the roadshow
