A coalition of Eagle Scouts, Scoutmasters, and parents have launched a new organization vowing to keep sex and politics out of the Boy Scouts of America.
“The Boy Scouts are one of the great jewels of American culture,” said John Stemberger, an Eagle Scout and the founder of OnMyHonor.net.
Representatives from more than a dozen states gathered in Florida to announce the opposition to any attempt to allow open homosexuality in the BSA.
The BSA is expected to offer a proposal that would remove the national rule banning open homosexuality -- and replacing it with a local option. That resolution would be voted on by the national council in May.
The announcement came as a shock to scouts and their parents, who overwhelmingly oppose the plan -- but also to a number of religious organizations who sponsor troops. About 70 percent of all troops are sponsored by church groups.
Frank Page, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Executive Committee, met with Boy Scouts Chief Executive Wayne Brock in early March -- warning him that a change in policy could result in a mass exodus of troops.
Stemberger told Fox News that the new coalition supports the current policy in Scouting. That policy, he said, allows anyone to participate -- regardless of sexual orientation. It does forbid open and aggressive promotion of homosexuality and political agendas.
“When it comes to young boys, parents have the final say on the issues of sex and politics,” Stemberger said.
He said the Boy Scouts are being bullied by gay rights activists who have a much broader agenda for the organization.
“It would be an enormous mistake if they allowed homosexuality in scouting,” he said. “They have no idea what these folks really want to do.”
Stemberger said there are already gays in scouting -- “they are discreet, they are appropriate, they are private and they don’t act out in front of kids.”
“What they want is full-blown gay activism in scouting,” he said, “and that’s what they can’t have under the current policy.”
He predicted any change in the policy would devastate the program.
“We think that sex and politics should stay out of Scouting,” he said. “We think that’s utterly inappropriate where boys as young as six and seven years old are being trained to be men.”
Stemberger said he hopes BSA leadership is listening to parents “rather than Madonna and Bill Gates.”
The possible change in policy has also impacted some Eagle Scouts -- like Malachi Baggett, 20, of Mississippi.
“All of a sudden they are backing away (from the policy),” he said of BSA leadership. “What does that tell me as a young man? Once it’s no longer popular, it’s okay to change your morals? Instead of basing your morals on faith, you should place them in a shifting culture? That’s extremely dangerous.”
Former U.S. Rep. Dick Schulze raised similar concerns.
“What kind of a message are we sending to our young people if the very leaders who are teaching Boy Scouts to be brave, cannot even find the courage to stand firm and avoid caving to peer pressure from Hollywood and political activists,” he asked.
Stemberger said the only answer to the controversy is to embrace the 2000 Supreme Court decision that ruled the BSA had a constitutional right to freedom of association.
“That’s the only way we can protect ourselves,” he said. “Otherwise, every single unit will be subjected to a legal attack. Millions of dollars will be spent on litigation. They will file lawsuits against churches, VFWs and a lot of them will abandon scouting.”
Don’t give an inch.

The Boy Scout movement in Canada was devastated when they started permitting female and then homosexual troop leaders. It’s dying a slow death and any parent that would permit their son to join the Boy Scouts of Canada as it is currently structured should be jailed for child endangerment.
“Local control” is problematic too. One troop may exclude gays, another allow ... what to do when the troops get together? Is each troop notified of the “orientation” of all leaders/members of the other? What reputation will precede them? “Oh, they’re the HATERS troop!” “Hey, he wants you!”

Oh yes!!!!! I was a MAJOR Dr. Laura fan—you can probably see her influence in my posts. I was a stay-at-home Mom and I loved her show...and knew she was absolutely correct. I was living what she was saying-—and actually studied childhood development for fun since I had 5 children and had time.
I saw her destruction and marginalization and she did back off eventually and her influence was destroyed. They went after her past and targeted her. (Everyone has done dumb stuff so it is easy in the press—which homosexuals control—to destroy people’s reputation in a short time.) It is surprising that Savage is still around. He must not have any evidence of serious wrong doing. But, like I say—that point which he will address, is why he is always marginalized and he has backed off that issue somewhat after his TV show.
I raised four boys and they are all married and fathers-—I put them in Catholic schools and didn’t allow most TV shows-—never MTV. I knew the effect of ideas on the minds of children.
Toxic cultures (like ours) will destroy civil society. We are seeing ours collapsing. We will NOT be able to protect the innocence that children need to form normal sexual identities-—with no morality it is vile, evil cultures—like the Weimar Republic, a culture which allowed homosexual boy scouts. Two quick comments. First, we don’t have sons but we have always made a financial contribution during their annual fundraising campaign in February. When the board decided to delay their policy decision until May, I reluctantly told our fundraiser (a personal friend) that I would be delaying any contribution until after the board’s decision.
Second, It is my personal experience that folks who feel they are on the right side of the Lord’s standards don’t require approval from anyone. If someone lacks that assurance, then all the approval in the world can’t make up for it. Nothing will ever make the gays happy.
MTV, and other outlets like that is never on, those girlie mags are not allowed, when she tells me how she hears other girls , not all mind but a handful talking about certain grown up stuff I tell her that these girls have no idea what they;re talking about, that they are not women, and they;re trying to be cool to you but are exactly the opposite.
All my boys, oldest a boxer won state champs and before a fight he goes in the corner, on one knee and prays, all are popular, all doing well in their sports.
My daughter is also getting all A’s and since she saw Casey Anthony got off her charges she now is striving to be a judge.

But our culture has become so toxic, I am fearful for my young grandchildren. I understand how influential and seductive culture is-—they are targeting the kids-—and homosexual marriage is to get to children in formative years and sexualize them.....for the Cultural Marxists knew it is easy to destroy morality in children with sex education-—it removes morality from the act. Lukacs destroyed a whole country with sex ed in Hungary in early 1900’s.

I also wouldn’t put my kid into a military with Dempsey, Hagel, and Brennan as part of the command structure of this nation’s defense. Who in their right mind would put their children’s lives in these people’s hands.

We sit down with them , we talk to them every day, we warn them off the dangers and we teach them morals and manners.

I am from Massachusetts but I had forgotten a couple of things that you mentioned such as the lesbians going to Catholic Charities and then Catholic Charities having to close its adoption agency.
Homosexuality is being placed higher up on the scale of what should be valued. It is even higher than the right to religious expression and conscience. Wow! Did you even think that things would come to this?
