Where do you libertarians stand on gays as boy scout masters?
You obviously must believe you know more that I do, however I never saw that in years past. I find it hard to be that a political party that could not even get one percent of the vote in a national election could be of any use to anyone for any agenda whatsoever. Effective? They can't get a dog catcher elected in almost every county in the nation.
I personally do not believe you know what you are talking about. Any individual that may have advocated for gay marriage and also stated that they are libertarian clearly does not speak for the whole political party or the movement any more than a gay Republican speaks for all Republicans.
I am not for gay marriage, nor any number of LP platform issues, yet identify strongly with the Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC).
Specifically, the RLC favors reduced government intrusion, lower taxes, elimination of federal agencies, less regulation, a strong national defense with fewer military bases abroad, and no foreign aid.
Yeah, but it gives you and other trolls such a golden opportunity to attack by insinuation!
Why are you calling out libertarians? Libertarians and libertines are not necessarily the same thing.
As a libertarianesque sort of person, my stance is that they are a private group and ought to be able to set up their own rules, but they should also be legally liable for the consequences (unless they get people to sign waivers). I imagine almost all other libertarianesque people will feel the same way. Freedom of association and whatnot.
The Girl Scouts allows adult males to be girl scout leaders PROVIDED there is also an adult female leader there too. This is a tacit admission that having adult males in charge of a group of girls (some of whom may be of child-bearing age, technically, if you know what I’m saying) is a bad idea and that another person needs to be there to make sure no hanky panky happens.
The general libertarian view is that the government should not coerce anybody into associating with somebody else. Employers shouldn’t be forced to hire a particular person, employees shouldn’t be forced to work for a particular person or organization, etc. Now, many libertarians may believe that homosexuality is perfectly acceptable and that the Boy Scouts are a bunch of backwards jerks for not accepting gay scout leaders, but they will support their right to exclude whoever they wish.
can the scouts have a break from sex and just learn about scouting? Is that too much to ask from the gays? Apparently yes because it is about sex and not the scouts.
There are cosistent true libertarians, and others who claim the name (like Bill Mahr)—but who are at best economic conservatives (and Mahr isn’t even that), with liberal social attitudes. Calling oneself “libertarian” is hip today, after all. The 2nd kind—RINOs at best—are opposing conservatives.
True blue libertarians want marriage to be “privatized” and states to even do away with marriage licenses—allowing no recognition or benefits for married people, etc. Trouble is, that position just shows a woeful ignorance of law—and how interwoven the definition of marriage is in society in almost countless ways.
Trouble is the true libertarians—in their idealistic ignorance—(”it’s none of the government’s d*mn business to say who you can marry!”) become tools of the fascist/oppresive—YOU WILL ACCEPT GAY MARRIAGE or ELSE! leaders of the gay mafia.
Are you kidding? Your fight is to make the GOP libertarian and freerepublic libertarian, already the conservatives are in a fight for their life from the rino libertarians of the GOP and their arguments to just lay back and enjoy it, to just concentrate on economic issues, to quit this fighting for the culture and morality and decency.
Romney and Rove and the rino wing hear this new way to say liberalism and are embracing it. Yeah baby, libertarians and liberals get to the same place on abortion and homosexuals in the military, but they use different vocabularies.
One just claims it as a right, the other claims it as a right created by the founders.
Libertarians support homosexualizing the military and adoption.
LOL, if that were just that, then you would just be a conservative.
BUT! You didn't mention that your second sentence is QUOTED from wikipedia, you also left out THE SENTENCE following it in wikipedia.
"In 2010, the Republican Liberty Caucus of Texas denounced the new state Republican Party platform that supported criminalization of sodomy and making same-sex marriage a felony."
I am aware of libertarians and their disagreement with consent laws and in preventing sex with children and posted proof of it in post 82, but you claim that a “”A vastly larger number of Republicans” want to end the age of consent and call incest laws unconstitutional?
I am calling you a liar and would like to see you post the proof.
Source?
Libertarians and the homosexual agenda in regards to adoption and the military.
Section 1.3 “Personal Relationships”:
Sexual orientation, preference, gender, or gender identity should have no impact on the government’s treatment of individuals, such as in current marriage, child custody, adoption, immigration or military service laws.
What could go wrong? Personal responibility is innate in all human beings. No guidance required- no low moral minimums, no high moral ground. Everyone just behaves by no standard, and thus UTOPIA. The lost Atlantis. If only human nature were allowed some freedom.
Well stated, ansel12.
You are a funny guy. Paulista’s have nothing good to say... unless they are in Nevada, gettin’ the burning man goin’. Idiots, one and all.
No.
IBTZ!
Thanks. I keep repeating that statement.
Heh. Yeah, there’s that, too! Sadly.
You can get the government out of scouting, which it was never in in the first place, but some trouble maker ACLU lawyer will take a case to a friendly liberal judge and it will be in the courts whether the libertarians like it or not. Conservatives surely did not introduce homosexuality into the boy scouts or into the courts but the liberals did and as long as there are liberal judges, they will drag these issues into court and the government.
