I know this is not news, but I'm looking for the widest possible audience.
My son and his family are considering a move to Iceland. I'm looking for anyone who might know someone who has moved from the U.S. to Iceland who might be willing to give them some tips on what to expect.
Anyone who knows someone who might be willing to communicate via email with them, please send me a private reply on how they may contact your person/people.
Thanks.
Me too.....

You have to look really hard to find the beautiful women during the 10 months of Winter.
Least likely country to get nuked?
I think the top one is the middle one...
I’ve heard that it is nothing but gorgeous blond chicks who drink too much and that there isn’t much to do outdoors.
Don’t let that put you off if you are determined though.
That’s a real turd floater.
“Are they moving to Iceland for the booming economy?”
Actually they are doing VERY WELL. They told their predator-creditors to SHOVE iT, and guess what - they came back for more, almost immediately and started loaning them money again. Although this time they have more honest people working their banks.
As to the country. There is good and bad. The good is that it’s so cold that you can store 30 years of food and not worry about it spoiling. The bad is that you need to store 30 years worth of energy too, or you’ll freeze your tushy off (usually it’s between 25 and 55F, with 78F being the hottest ever in the capital). And you can have guns there, but almost all rifles and no semis.
Still, not a bad option - keep us tuned in here, we may ALL want to join you. All we have to do is fix the gun laws, store up enough food and fuel, and we’re set for anything the left does to the rest of the world.
Adak is great if you like hunting and fishing

Not much on either so I guess I would have just honed my alcoholic skills without the benefit of getting underway for periods of time....<: <:
Was already an avid reader and quite ‘sharp on my CW skills’ so guess would have been on ‘close speaking terms’ with the Acey/Duecy club bartenders and managers...
It also has a very, very, very high rate if illegitimacy.
There are also some very beautiful people there.
You can walk buy a restaurant and see baby strollers outside with the kids still in them. The parent(s) might be inside eating. Total strangers may come up and pick the baby up and then put the baby back and then leave.
I know - unbelievable. But, the US it ain't.

That would be the very best reason for moving there.
I have been to Iceland many times and have family there now in the West Fjords. Why does this family wish to relocate there? Do they have a job or profession that is taking them there? Living
in Iceland is a challenge not to mention it is very expensive there. Where are they planning to live? Reykjavik? If they are expecting housing like housing in the US they will be in for a real wake up. And purchasing property there is not easy for foreigners.
Iceland is a rugged, beautiful country and the people are wonderful. Many speak English as it is taught in school there as well as Danish. The Icelandic language is very difficult to learn and the kids will be expected to learn Icelandic for school. More information would be helpful and avoid some sarcastic comments about Iceland from those who have never been there.
Winter in the West Fjords has been brutal this year...and it is still very cold up there. Reykjavik is not as cold but can be.
If you don’t like liver, never ever order Puffin..it is on the menus there. Also horse meat is found as well in some places.
The sun storms have lead to the most amazing Northern Lights shows this year. Our kids post pictures almost daily of them and if you know the constellations, you can pick them out in some of the photos. Amazing..
Iceland is one of the places you either love it or hate it. Not much middle ground. I love it there. But then I don’t like New York type city hubbub so if that is your cup of tea you might be disappointed. If you like fishing, horse back riding, hiking etc you will enjoy it.
The city does nothing for me.
Is there anything a picky-eating American would like?
Is it hard for an American to get a job there?
(my field is electrical engineering)
I aim to please.
