Doctor Raoul died Saturday of a rare form of cancer. He was 58.
Raoul's family contacted us this morning to see if they could find out more about his activities as an activist.
This is such a shock. His family is looking for photos and stories about him.
He is and always will be a Free Republic icon.
He kind of fell off the face of the earth about 2 or 3 years ago now. All attempts we made to reach him failed.
If you have photos please contact me. Please feel free to post stories and I will make sure the family sees this thread.
What a great epitaph! Still have a way with words, you do.
I am very sorry to read this news; 58 is far too young.
I have great memories of meeting Dr. Raoul at CPAC, long ago. I think the first time I met him, he was wearing a Fry Mumia shirt. Good times. May he rest in peace.
My condolences to his family and to his friends here.
Great story!
So sorry to hear/read about Dr Raoul .. I had the honor of attending a Saturday protest once .. and have lunch w/a few of y’all afterwards.. such fond memories! Always encouraging when you know there are others who feel as strongly as you do about things .. Dr Raoul not only felt that way - he was willing to put himself out there to make his point known!
My brother and I with kristinn's permission sacrificed a copy the sign at the back gate of the Naval Observatory which the Goron and family used to exit the compound.
He was a great worker for the cause.
You are correct. The good Doctor is wearing the Clinton mask and holding the “Monica....” sign. He was a conservative prankster. His razor, bitting wit will be sorely missed. It was an honor to stand with him.
Oh my gosh, I just saw this news on Twitter. I haven’t beena frequent Freeper in recent years, but I recall so many great threads by Doctor Raoul and hilarious photos of him at the many Freeps over the years. He will be missed. May God be with his family and friends.
Race, look at all those young folks. Post Correspondent freeps gathered in the Hilton bar. This looks like a post White House Saturday Freep gathering the DC Chapter’s favorite Italain resturant.
Sad news. We have lost a patriot! May his family be in God’s love and grace and may the good doc rest in peace.

RIP FReeper.
Ping - you in post #413
A number of years ago, I was in downtown Philadelphia. There was some kind of hippie demonstration going on in the streets, and the goons were out in force. And then, from somewhere in the distance, I could hear a megaphone voice hurling relentless and unapologetic ridicule on the whole mess, and apparently having a great deal of fun in the process. Somehow, I just knew it had to be Dr. Raoul doing one of his classic Freeps. I crossed the street and headed toward the booming voice. Sure enough, the Doctor, as well as several other FR cohorts, were entrenched on the sidewalk. One of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I introduced him to the rest of my family as a real hero of Free Republic. The honor was all mine, Doc.
Still trying to come to grips with this.
I thank you all for the wonderful pictures and the rembrances of all this great guy did. And I thank the Moderator for Dr. Raoul’s last post.
May Dr. Raoul’s family also get a glimpse of what he meant to us.
And -— Dr. Raoul — I hope you are watching, reading and smiling. Freep on!
Sadness indeed. You will be missed, dear FRiend.
Raoul was on the show as a caller as well.
