New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said on Sunday: Sometimes government does know best. And in those cases, Americans should just cede their rights.
I do think there are certain times we should infringe on your freedom, Mr. Bloomberg said, during an appearance on NBC. He made the statement during discussion of his soda ban just shot down by the courts and insistence that his fight to control sugary drink portion sizes in the city would go forth.

This man is a dangerous maniac - one among MANY who populate our elected offices - MOST of them SERIAL OFFICE HOLDERS!!!
The man is mad ~ take away his access to guns ~ now!
Wow. I mean, just wow.
50 years ago, men like my grandfather, who helped build the Empire State Building, would have this bozo arrested or killed.
This is outright and bold-faced treason. Right in your faces, folks. If I lived in NYC or anywhere in the northeast, I would be making arrangements to get the Hell out of Dodge.
How in the world did this little dictator wannabe get elected?
My God, the crap this guy spews and the utter lack of pushback speaks volumes for the mindset of the liberal elites and the sheep of NYC.
What an evil little man.
More proof that Bloomie is clueless about America and the Bill of Rights.
The founding fathers understood this concept.
That is why they wrote the Bill of Rights, to restrict oppressive government.
That’s what the government of Cypress is doing right now, by the way.
Just a little infringment...
for the greater good.
What are you talking about?
The comments about NYC on this forum are almost uniformly clueless - as if it were the mythical land of Mordor rather than a real place.
The rantings of guilt ridden billionaires don’t translate into good policy. During this idiot’s twelve years as mayor, an entire generation was “educated” at the NYC public schools he supervises and celebrates. Sadly 80% are judged to be illiterate despite their twelve year tenure in the union staffed public schools. No wonder the guy wants to talk about soda.
I think there should be an outside NY driven recall Bloomberg campaign. I guarantee he’d squeal like a pig about outsiders meddling in his city.
Bloomberg should mann up then and live by his own rules. Since he’s very wealthy his wealth needs to be redistributed by the government.
Except in the case of legalized sodomy, then the state has a responsibility to officially sanction and reward it.
And force employers to teach tolerance and diversity.

Mad? Perhaps so, I think he is showing more and more that he has never been told “NO!” in his life. Not by his parents, Business sycophants, Government Sycophants, no one seems to have ever told him No and made it stick.
We are seeing this more and more with our so-called “leaders”. I guess this means we just need to keep saying No! and make it stick.
I mean, it's like DAILY.
The man is insane.
I wonder if NYCers, will ever rise up against him.
