There was a time when polling was a real opportunity for reporters and editors to get out of the office and find out what real people were thinking.
Now, the Post ignores the basics of journalism; no attribution, no digging, no follow up.

they ridicule and belittle their opponents

This tactic is straight from the Dem playbook, and it usually works (although I realize having the media push your narrative helps).

In order to win you have to be stronger, smarter and more determined than your adversary. Ergo, we have to out shout and call them out. This is not a chess game, its a contact sport.

FYI..the author is the same clown that O’Reilly skewered on his show a few days ago because the paper supports the decision to NOT pass Angela’s Law..this clown says tghat the present laws are more than adequate.

This is really funny stuff:

So, you're probably wondering, if the polls are easily manipulated and non-scientific, why run them? Primarily because they engage readers in our product and, at some level, force people to think about issues we think are important.

They complain about online polls being manipulated, then admit they manipulate the public into viewing their "product" and "thinking" about issues that the newspaper thinks are "important to them."

I don't know the last time I read such a load of BULLSH*T in my life.

Thanks, Servant of the Cross!
Take a bow, poll freepers!

ps. Sorry, Admin moderator. I should have known better than to quote even a little from the Denver Pest.

I agree wholeheartedly with this statement:

Online polls are, at best, informative. They are not — and should never be considered — statistically valid on the order of a scientific poll. Like many things you find online, they should be viewed with skepticism.

It's because they've crossed over from reporting to propaganda.

But the poll's result — with 70 percent of respondents favoring a ballot measure that would overturn a ban on high-capacity magazines — is largely insignificant.

Guess what, Denver Post? ALL online polls are insignificant. There are few of them that are not stuffed by one side or the other.

If you had a poll that said, "Have you ever voted in an online poll, including this one?" at least 25% would say NO.

Skewing online polls is a common practice. I doubt it was started by FR.

These kind of “polls” have become the signature of shrinking, big city dailies.

First, run a bogus survey with limited appeal. Follow up with a phone interview with one of the “affected.”

Then, it's the Sunday Weeper Piece (trade mark registered) with a pix of the whole family huddled around some worn out sofa.

I could write this entire series drawkcab.
