Department of Education "Kids Zone" Features Communist Quote from Mao
FrontPage Magazine ^ | 3/22/13 | Daniel Greenfield

I’m still waiting for the Hitler quote. Or is there a minimum number of people that a dictator has to murder before he gets placement on a part of the Department of Education website devoted to kids. This isn’t a generic quote about education being a good thing. It’s actually a quote about the need for Communist indoctrination among Communist Party members. The full quote that the Department of Education cut down comes at the end of an essay on “The Role of the Chinese Communist Party in the National War” “Whoever refuses to study these problems seriously and carefully is no

An acquaintance’s boyfriend suggested mandatory post-secondary “indoctrination” of 2 years, by which he meant Socialist indoctrination.

I asked if the Re-Education Camps would involve barbed wire.

I should have agreed, so long as I got to design the curriculum.

I think we have to accept that half of the county is very happy to have communism. They believe that crime is lower, that they are safer and well fed- and they really do not care about spirituality, or anyone’s rights. They want to be fed and told they are safe. I have friends who are happy to be communists. They do not understand my problem with it.

I just bought a book at the thrift store called
China’s Long March, it is a childrens book approved
for school age children and us. schools.

It is pure propaganda, all communists are brave heros
Nationalists are terrorists and landlords are blood
sucking leeches. Really pathetic but to a young person
not yet awakened to political reality it would be very
attractive. Frightening that our young are being
introduced to this stuff by our very schools.

BuzzFeed notes that the website now has a new quote of the day... by Lincoln, randomly generated, we must presume (see statement of explanation by DOE press secretary). LOL!

"Upon the subject of education, not presuming to dictate any plan or system respecting it, I can only say that I view it as the most important subject which we as a people can be engaged in." Abraham Lincoln

Daren Briscoe, the acting press secretary for the Department of Education says in a statement:

"The Kids' Zone website hosted by the National Center of Education Statistics earlier today featured a poorly chosen quote, intended to highlight the importance of teaching and learning, in the 'Quote of the Day' feature. This feature, which automatically generates one education-related quote per day from a database of quotes last updated in 2007, has been temporarily suspended pending a review of the database's contents."

There are some of us involved in our schools. But there are so many parents that drop off their kids and don’t care what goes on during those hours they are in school.

I want to see the number of page hits for this site. It’s a good candidate for budget cuts I expect.
