In another case in the annals of conservative "adaptation" to yesterday's liberal innovation, Ohio Republican senator Rob Portman has just announced that he now supports faux marriage. The change was motivated, he said, by his son having come out to him and his wife as a homosexual.
Well, it's a good thing his son didn't announce that he was involved in bestiality.
Talk about a pandering parent.
We can also talk here about letting your personal life influence your public policy. If I were a statesman and learned that a child of mine were hooked on cocaine or had joined the Taliban, I wouldn't change my position on drug policy or terrorism. Of course, Portman has said that his son's revelation inspired some soul searching, and, true, life events can spur thought and intellectual growth. But is his decision really the fruits of sound intellectual analysis?

Well as a parent I would say I failed for one but then again there is always the ones which get through so I then tell my sons about the diseases, the feces to which they like to have on their penis, etc

From what little I know about him, I figure he never had any real principles to begin with. After all, he’s a politician. The ones who do have principles are the exceptions not the norm.
Portman has joined the ranks of perversion and anti-decent society.
His son is a misguided youth who, perhaps due to the inattentiveness of his father, decided that he likes to achieve his orgasms in a radically different manner and is ready to renounce God and His Commandments.
Would Portman feel the same if young Portman was a bestiality adherent? “Dad. I want to marry my dog because relations with him make me feel like a human being.”
Thanks to Portman for giving much ammunition to the opposition. He is a true weasel.
Good timing for a revelation. He’s known about this for two years but was still anti same-sex marriage during the 2012 campaign season.

I must remind you that an outspoken segment of FR went on a multi month tirade over the fact that principles are for ‘purists’ and such people are the impediment to the almighty win. It ain’t JUST the pols. It’s “US”.
Where are those people lately?
Portman is conflicted - he wants his son to be happy, but pretending his son will have a normal life will not help the boy avoid his future sadness and misery one bit.
Every homosexual I know suffers from some great burden caused, or manifested by, their sexuality - disease, addiction, depression, violence or extreme promiscuity. Portman can bury his head in the sand, but it won’t change reality one bit.
To be honest, I don’t remember having heard of him until last week. I’m not from Ohio.
He’s an extra democrat now. He’s out of the moderate closet.
Maybe Portman should look into his son’s childhood to see if there wasn’t a homosexual pedophile that abused him. Chances are good that there was, and supporting homosexual marriage is supporting that perverted culture.
More accurately, his son is a breech loader.
For the record, most pedophiles are not homosexual. Pedophilia is a sickness, yes, but it is characterized less by sexual attraction than by assertions of power and control.
I guess you could put it that way.
