I like the late 70s ear but ya...lack of a spoiler did them no favors.

Yeah, I'm trying to remember what year models they chopped the tail fin off of. I said early 80s before, but I think it was only a couple of models in the late 70s.

Buddy of mine had one, and was always kicking himself that he didn't hold off for a couple more years when the tail scoop returned. The ass on that Vette was butt ugly.

Chevy’s idea to attract mom types to a more ‘non threatening’ ‘performance’ car IMO... I am unsure on exact years as well.

Actually the Boss 351 was the quicker of the two when you get right down to it.
**********************************
My first car was a 1970 Cougar 351C with only 30,000 miles so it was still fresh ,, fast YES! but the handling and brakes were so bad that a new Corolla would be faster on any track with a corner... Chevy really screwed up the rear of this new Corvette ,, I know they’re trying to keep the Chevy “family” look together but this is just plain ugly ... bits of Volt & Camaro mashed together ... like some earlier poster noted the downfall is always the interior ,, the 1980’s and 1990’s cars had interiors that started out ugly and fell apart in a few summers heat... typical GM superglued trash .. and the plastics are always chintzy... I’ll take a used C63 AMG for 25% of the price...

My last truck project was a 400 truck block with a few 351C pieces, porting etc... Went from boat anchor to beast in $5,000 flat ;) Clevelands are awesome motors. The 4V heads and tennis ball intake ports are ridiculous. But yea, the cars they put them in, even the Mustangs were no canyon carvers.

Sounds evil at 7,000 RPM though!

GM...... Unless Toyota or Ford get the licensing I’ll never buy one. Any money that goes to GM I consider donating to unions, democrats or Obamalamadingdong....... I’d rather wipe my rear end with my money and set it on fire before giving it to GM.

But it’ll still be an Obamamobile, and only an Obamaphile would own one.

Buying from Government Motors amounts to a personal seal of approval of the theft of the company from its legitimate creditors, and gift to the UAW.

Detroit is so cute when they try to compete with the Germans.

I'll stick with my new ride, thanks.

I note that the new Corvette has an engine of 6800 cc (415 cubic inches), and manages to extract 450 hp from it. Not bad. My engine is a more modest 5461 cc (333 cubic inches), but cranks out 557 hp. Corvette fans won't even want to know the torque comparison. If I were the racing sort, I could dust the new Corvette in a 0-60 run (3.6 seconds); 0-100 (7.9); 0-150, which is a moot point as far as I'm concerned (17.7); and a standing ¼ mile (11.8 seconds @ 124 mph), despite a weight penalty of 700 pounds.

Not, of course, that raw speed is the most important thing. But the stats may serve as a proxy for the overall capabilities of the cars.

Back to the drawing board, GM.

Nice, but it is called bang for the buck. You likely paid double, no.
