Boehner voices support for emerging House immigration deal
The Hill ^ | Mar. 19, 2013 | Russell Berman

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Tuesday voiced support for the work of a secretive bipartisan immigration coalition in the House, but he said Republican lawmakers must be educated on the issue before legislation can advance.

A group of eight lawmakers — four Republicans and four Democrats — has been meeting privately for years to craft a comprehensive immigration overhaul, and they told Boehner and other Republican leaders last week that they were close to a deal.

He also refused, as he has before, to weigh in on the contentious question of a path to citizenship for the illegal immigrants now in the U.S.

The House group has received less attention than its counterpart in the Senate, which announced an agreement on principles for immigration reform in January and is hoping to release a full legislative text in the coming weeks.

House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) on Tuesday said the negotiators were “very close” to a deal, which he said would include a pathway to citizenship.

"I don't want to go into specifics, that's for them to announce," Hoyer added, saying he expected them to share the plan “in the near term.”[SNIP}

Is there any way we can primary this bozo out of office in 2014?

You'll probably have to wait until the first election featuring newly amnestied illegals. They'll vote the weeping gringo out.

Our tea party group was approached by a group of Christian Conservatives from out of state.

Boehner gets only about 40,000 votes in the primaries and they think he can be primaried with $250,000.

We are in the process of locating and interviewing viable Christian Conservative candidates to run against him.

This group is also targeting Lindsey Graham.

How about a pathway to illegal alien status for all the citizens who are sick and tired of being stuck with the bill?

...he said Republican lawmakers must be educated on the issue before legislation can advance.

Why? I thought you have to pass things first so you can find out what's in them?

It’s not a matter of “if” for Bonehead assuming the “mama” position for progressives, it’s just a matter of “when”.

Hey, mamma, come over here and bend over....that’s it.....

He may as well OK gay marriage, since he’s already quite used to it.

The GOP has always been the party of amnesty. The Dem support is obvious.

The fact that people still identify themselves as Republicans for even vote for them is beyond me.

A sane country would first deport the illegal aliens then the politicians.

Recently Oregon...YES, Oregon..800 miles from the border was named one of four sanctuary states...OREGON! Hell, they’ve GOT the whole enchilada.

“Oregon is one of four official sanctuary states. Despite the documented presence of more than 50 Hispanic, Asian, and Eurasian gangs (most of which migrated there from southern California) involved in everything from drugs to sex trafficking to homicide”

Eisenhower (a Republican) came up with Operation Wetback and sent thousands of them back ... back before Johnson’s Great Society.

Johnson was meddling even then. When recession raised calls for Mexican braceros working under the wartime program to be sent home (after a seven-year delay, agribusinesses loved the hand-to-mouth wages the braceros would work for), Lyndon Johnson (Senate Democratic leader) interposed and shoved his Size 14 shoe in the door.

Lyndon knew Mexicans, if he could get them into the polling place, would vote straight-ticket Democrat. That's how he got elected to the Senate in the first place in 1948, in his eponymous "landslide".

Pres. Eisenhower beat LBJ's play by issuing an Executive Order, the program being under his authority as an admin program. (DoL, I should think, or Dept. of Agriculture.)

Crybaby Boehner “voices” his support for all things liberal. This isn’t anything new.

This is the part were we see how unqualified and incompetent our legislators really are. They will sweep the problem they caused and don't know how to solve "under the rug" by making the illegals into citizens with the stroke of a pen.

Didn’t Regan and Bush allow million of illegals to stay here with the promise to seal the borders? Are we doing it again?

I fail to see one single GOP elected person that has a clue to running this country and the democrats are even worse.

Deal making without lots of public hearings on such a huge issue is despicable. These “deals” always involve things they could not get away with after open public discussion.

Negotiating with leftists is insanity, suicide.

Illegal immigration is bad for our country. Period. And republicans are signing the party’s death warrant.

NO AMNESTY__NONE, nunca, zip. The government let these folks in— now the government needs to get them out of our country. All you do is put about 100 employers in a federal pen and it is over.
