Texas Senator Ted Cruz's question to California Democratic Senator Diane Feinstein on the Second Amendment in a March 14 hearing forced MSNBC hosts into conniptions,
At the heart of the congressional debate are the questions: Does the Second Amendment prohibit the federal government from passing laws related to firearms, leaving the role exclusively to the states? Or does the Second Amendment grant Congress the authority to pass laws banning guns whenever it believes it appropriate?
The Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights provides that “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” The term, “the right of the people,” when the framers included it in the Bill of Rights, they used it as a term of art. That same phrase, “the right of the people,” is found in the First Amendment: “the right of the people to peaceably assemble and petition their government for a redress of grievances.” It's also found in the Fourth Amendment, “the right of the people to free from unreasonable searches and seizures.” And the question I would pose to the senior Senator from California [Feinstein] is, would she deem it consistent with the Bill of Rights for Congress to engage in the same endeavor that we are contemplating doing with the Second Amendment in the context of the First or the Fourth Amendment? Namely, would she consider it constitutional for Congress to specify that the First Amendment shall apply only to the following books, and shall not apply to the books that Congress has deemed outside the protection of the First Amendment?
The Harvard Law School-educated Cruz's question sent MSNBC's Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough into an on-air meltdown, where Scarborough essentially argued that it doesn't matter what the Second Amendment says.

Then you were of the very few. My wife and I were two of about ten attending a early campaign stop in Temple and we were there because of the campaign literature sent by the Cruz team stating that Sarah Palin had endorsed him...
So my question is “when did you jump on the Cruz Bandwagon???”.

I still have the opinion that the debate helped Cruz more than Sarah. I like Sarah. I think Cruz was soooo much better than Dewhurst and that was the turning point. I think Dewhurst thought he had it wrapped up. The fact that he is a controlled stutterer did not help him. I almost felt sorry for him.
You should take it up with Senator Cruz...from the horses mouth...he is the one who credits Sarah with his win. Your PDS is showing.

Unfortunately, all too many people from the political class and their supporters agree that the Constitution is just some dusty old document which has no relevance or force of law in guiding this country. The liberal attitude is basically one of we’ll do what we want, and the heck with the Constitution unless a court from time to time tells us no.
Feinstein said so much with her interpritation of seperation of powers. (she would have failed first year law school with that answer)
her view was legislative can make ANY LAW THEY WANT and it is legal until the courts say otherwise. No personal responsibility. All law to eslave is legal unTIL the court gets around to freeing the slaves.
The beauty and power of the American idea, is that it stands upon foundational concepts that are as old as time itself, and which are superior to men or their laws.
Our Declaration of Independence set forth those concepts of freedom as a universal communication to the world. Our Constitution organized them into a working framework of governing codes which would serve as the grand arch to support all subsequent laws, regulations, etc.
It was the people of the several states who insisted upon the inclusion of the Bill of Rights in our Constitution. This, as a further strengthening bulwark, against government's natural tendency to grow and empower itself at the expense of the people's inalienable rights, lives, and fortunes.
I often hear people say that, 'America is a nation of laws, not men', but I posit that that consideration falls far short of the true mark. America was founded upon universal, timeless Truths. That is our true national character, which is why the laws of evil men can never repeal our freedom. It does not rest within their power to do so.
Right . . . the funny thing was that Feinstein had no shame in expressing that opinion . . . her disregard (if not outright contempt) for the Constitution was so casual it was scarey.

I have also been thinking about when, in the summertime, such an “attack” would take place. High gas prices? What usually happens to gas prices when major holidays occur?

I don;t know why most Republicans just can’t understand this simple concept: If you’re going to get attacked no matter what you say or do, you may as well fight back. As Cruz is demonstrating, and Scott Walker has confirmed, fighting back puts your adversaries on the defensive.
You have to be tougher and stronger than your adversaries to win. We need fearless conservatives with fire in the belly and unshakeable convictions. That’s what victories are made of.

Well, cannons were expensive items so generally it required an entire town to own one, but yes, a gentleman could own a cannon even though it was ordinance rather than an arm to bear. Can an individual own it's modern equivalent - a small army with machine guns, helicotpers and .50 cals? The answer is yes if you're rich enough.
And you can bet that DiFi's Hubby (or his flunkies) helped write an awful lot of legislation that benefited DiFi's hubby.
I don't recall if it was DiFi or Pelousi who's hubby was heavily invested in Tuna factories in a US territory... And interestingly enough, that one territory was exempted from the last minimum wage hike, saving the hubby millions of dollars...
