A former student at Oakland University in the suburbs of Detroit is suing the school for over $2.2 million after he was kicked out in September 2011 for penning a salacious essay entitled Hot for Teacher.
Joseph Corlett, 57, a builder who now resides in Florida, filed the lawsuit Friday in U.S. District Court in Detroit, reports the Detroit Free Press. He claims the public university violated his First Amendment right to freedom of expression. He says he also suffered mental anguish and humiliation when he was forced to leave the school.
The suit names the schools board of trustees and two high-ranking officials as defendants.
When Corlett wrote the essay, he was majoring in writing and rhetoric and working toward a bachelors degree. The class at issue was English 380: Advanced Critical Writing. The comely blond instructor was Pamela Mitzelfeld.
Corlett named his cursive composition Hot for Teacher after the sexually suggestive 1984 Van Halen song. Its undeniable thesis was that he was very attracted to Mitzelfeld.
There is no way Ill concentrate in class especially with that sexy little mole on her upper lip beckoning with every accented word, the nontraditional student wrote, according to the Free Press. And that smile.
Ive had a few worries lately, the first that Lynn Anne, my wife, would read this. But now I dont care. I suppose my fear is a good sign that Im writing honestly, he also wrote, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The subject of the essay herself.
Gentlemen of the jury (and Lazamataz)?
She’s very attractive. He’s an idiot.
a pig like that couldn’t get embarrassed
I don’t feel tardy?
“In January 2012, a school committee found Corlett guilty of intimidating behavior because of his essay. He says he was banned from campus for a year. He would only be allowed back if he successfully completed sensitivity counseling.”
His writing was startlingly inappropriate, and he surely deserved punishment. That said, “intimidating behavior” and “sensitivity counseling” is a bunch of politically correct mumbo jumbo.
Isn't there a law against cruel and unusual punishment?
She’s got a certain something....but at 55+ Mr.Corlett was swinging for the fences and just plain stupid.
If he wanted go out with her, he should have taken his chances and just asked and lived with the response. They couldn’t have expelled him for that. You write a suggestive essay and then submit it to her....how does that end well?
At 50+, I have little in common (besides the obvious) with a woman 20+ years my junior anyway.
Usually the hot teachers are indoctrinating the younger male students. Table turned and flipped over on this one. Thanks for posting. LOL!
Kind of like motivation platoon for creepy middle-aged men.
Give me something to write on man!
Not Guilty, send that pig Corlett off to a reeductaion camp.
Where is the “sexy little mole on her upper lip?”
Ah, one-itis again. Always a fatal disease in men who succumb to it...
Moles are sexy?
I hate moles. Must be some genetic disposition in me that regards moles as a sign of disease, like cancer or the pox.
He looks like John List.
I overheard someone speaking about me in a sexually suggestive manner when I had just starting working for my first airline. It was not only uncomfortable, but I had to plan my entire schedule around avoiding being near this person as I didn’t know what he was capable of. I hated him looking at me and knew he was still speaking about me in the manner I had first heard.
The school was right to banish this ilk. He should convert to islam. They blame everyone else for their inability to control their sexual urges and expect society to form around them.
