Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush gave the keynote speech Friday night at the Conservative Political Action Conference 2013 Reagan Dinner and received what was described as a “respectful” standing ovation when introduced, as reported by Twitchy.com.

As he laid out what appeared to be the foundation for a future presidential campaign platform, there was a general lack of enthusiasm that brought some to describe it as tepid.

Tokyo Rove, his PAC donors and the GOP-e better start paying attention. NO MORE RINOS!

And yet Rand Paul and Marco Rubio placed one and two in their straw poll. And their positions are indistinguishable from Jeb Bush’s on amnesty.

That just means they’ll attack everyone else harder to ensure he’s the ‘only hope for conservatism’.

Bush and Tokyo Rove had a bad run at CPAC this time.

Rove’s donors are starting to have second thoughts about giving to his smear-the-conservative PAC.

This is a good start.

Why on Earth would CPAC choose him to be a Keynote speaker?

Nice Try Jeb.

Next time actually try and stand for something, then you will have Three Threads on F.R. with 100 + Comments on each about your speech.

Otherwise let the Big Girls do the talking.

We can hope. But they will go scorched earth on the way down. With full GOP backing. Bank on it.

The name Bush is not exactly a plus to get elected these days. Ironically Jeb was always the favorite son, far more accomplished than George and always thought by his family and others as the son who would one day be President. His career was severely damaged when his wife got caught shoplifting .Maybe Jeb would be useful to get himself elected to the Senate from Florida. But President? Forget about it.

It's His Turn in 2016.

The GOP apparatchiks are ready to die on that hill, filled with memories of the glory days of Dole 1996.

He'll get every opportunity handed to him between now and then. It might even be enough to stave off the antique hippie chick. :)

Jeb wouldn’t be a bad candidate if his last name wasn’t Bush. He’s not an ideal candidate, but I don’t think anyone is.

I’m not sure why the head of the RNC was invited. Pat Caddell had more important things to say than several of the speakers I saw.

Love Sarah of course and Ted Cruz - didn’t see him using a teleprompter. What a contrast!

Just don’t know how that arrogant twit zero, who has lied, cheated and failed, has the guts to keep up the charade.

Exactly. Tokyo Rove and the GOP-e have declared our ticket will be Bush-Christie in 2016. But this time, it can be stopped.

1. Contact Tokyo Rove’s donors and tell them to stop their donations to his anti-conservative PAC.

2. All primary candidates must go on record and refuse any support from Tokyo Rove’s anti-conservative PAC.

3. Tell Matt Drudge (and his staffers Curl and Hurt) that his coordinated attacks on conservatives will not be tolerated this time. His BFF Matt Rhoades (Romney's campaign manager) married a Chris Christie operative this passt summer (when he should have testing ORCA as well as other things). So Drudge will definitely be in the Bush-Christie camp in 2016. His affection for Cruz and Paul is only a ruse and he will stab them in the back when the Bush-Christie folks give the order.

Regardless of facts, Jeb appears to be the GOP-e candidate that Reince has selected for us in ‘16.

Apparently, Reince, the GOP-e and the Republican party in general are not too interested in either re-taking the WH or adding significant majorities to both houses of Congress.

So, unless something drastic happens, we shouldn’t expect to be too happy in 2017!

Bush fatigue is still alive. Obama won running against it — twice, 2008 and 2012.

Maybe, if Jeb changes his last name to his wife’s hispanic maiden name, he would stand a better chance — and really show that he is ‘progressive’.

This week his has already been flipflopping on the policies he advocated in the book he wrote. That even beyond Romney’s flipflops.
