I don’t think that there was ever a time on FR when Portman was not known as a rino, and that goes back years.
This isn’t a huge surprise.
I understand that recalls are a double edged sword since the Dems use them for purely political purposes. Yet to me, IMO ect, there should be more of them and ballot measures to install the laws required where they currently are not.
My reasoning is thus...
Politicians fear nothing but their unemployment. Term limits are needed, but that has proven legally tenuous in several places/cases. Recalls serve the same end, but ALSO put the pols under the gun. If they are faced with the threat of recall, a SERIOUS threat with teeth, they will not bend so easily to the dark side.
Secondly, once a recall starts, they spend their time and money fighting it rather than passing further BS laws that are often wholly unconstitutional. Which is probably the cause of a recall to begin with. At least on our side of the fence.
Win/Win for America.
Portman has proven to have no spine, so he probably would go on TV and say he changed his mind about adultery.
I’m with everyone else here who has ended support for Portman. Either there are ‘fundamental truths’ or there aren’t. I’ll look for another politician with conviction to lead by principle, not by whims. “You cannot legislate morals, but you can legislate morally.”
It matters not what other people do in their bedrooms to me. But holy matrimony is a sacrament from God, not to be destroyed by the sins of man. Get government OUT of the Church’s business. Everyone should be equal under the law, therefore everyone should be subject to civil unions. It’s the only way to save the church from the Evil coming.
I think Jim Jordan may be the lone conservative.
“Senator Portman—you’re a homoooooh!” Eric Estrada
RE: Get rid of this embarrassment, Ohio.
First, Ohio votes for Obama, then John Kasich caves on Obamacare, now this...
I’m just about ready to give up on this state ( and to think they voted against Kerry in 2004 ).
“The same thing that is wrong with the rest of the nation. Too many buy the rhetoric of Republicans pretending to be conservative.”
Yeah, you speak the truth. I have to count myself in your commentary. I actually sent that @$$hole McLame $100 during the ‘08 election. Now, in hindsight, as bad as Obama is, I firmly believe that a McLame presidency would have been far worse for the reasons you state. He would have been like boiling a frog. We would have gotten a lot more bad legislation passed because the “repubicans” would have supported the same crap as Obama has given us.
If this becomes GOP policy, I’m out!
GOP = Gay Old Party
Don’t know much about him although I had forgotten him. Thanks.
