The Pentagon is beefing up the nations missile defense in the wake of provocative nuclear threats from North Korea and is set to deploy 14 additional ground-based interceptors at missile silos in Alaska and California, congressional and U.S. officials tell Fox News.
An Obama administration official tells Fox News that the increase in interceptors is a logical response to an evolving threat from North Korea and that anyone who suggests we should have stayed the course with the Bush administrations plan is engaging in Monday morning quarterbacking.
Whether intentional or not, the announcement also coincides with 30th anniversary of President Ronald Reagans Strategic Defense Initiative speech. The nations first ground-based interceptors were set up in 2002 under President George W. Bush.

Hussein won't admit that he was wrong. But he was very wrong!
He already has . . .
Bush’s fault, as usual.
he;s never admit he was wrong but he was damn wrong about this and he pissed off some of our allies, not that he cares about that though
That never gets old...
Translation of “evolving threat?” NK is making steady progress towards mounting a nuke on a long-range missile capable of hitting the United States, and will likely have that combination within the year.
Funny, isn’t it, how Team Obama’s timelines have changed over the past five months? Before the election, we were told Iran was “four years” away from getting the bomb (Joe Biden’s words); now, Obama himself tells Israeli TV that Iran will achieve that goal in a year—or less. The decision to put more land-based interceptors in Alaska and California tells me the NK ICBM threat will soon be a reality.
And the final irony? The CinC who has done as much as anyone in the west to “enable” the Iranian and North Korean threats will now try to “run against them.”
Now back in the early 70’s, I spent 13 months in Korea. We had nuke missiles and listening posts up on the z back then. What ever happened to them? I always thought they were meant for the Chi Coms.
The Norks have no desire to nuke Alaska. What for? Same with the West Coast.
The Norks want the East Coast with it’s power infrastructure. And they could have it and we’d never know in advance.
