This is beyond belief at this point. If anyone wants to capture the mindset of Roman politicians prior to the Empires fall, here it is on display.

I guess the Democrats won’t mind then if Americans don’t pay their taxes due in April?

So all those ideas about the ceiling falling, the walls caving in because of that, you can sleep more comfortably in your bed at night when you realize that we dont think theres a problem.
and pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!

Sounds like he would be in favor of the $100 an hour minimum wage too since they can just print all the money necessary to assure prosperity and float off into the sky.

Let him and the rest of the fossils in Congress pay back the Social Security “trust” fund and make it whole out of their collective personal fortunes. Those contributions would be in the noise.

Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, said on Thursday that the nations current debt of $16.7 trillion is not endangering the country, adding that some debt is not a bad idea and that he and other congressional Democrats dont think theres a problem.
I think we’ve heard this before.

I think that fiscal conservatives need trumpet only one fact: the percentage of the Federal expenditures that is going to debt service. As we keep borrowing, the percentage of the amount we spend each year keeps climbing. Without spending control, we can't reduce the debt. If we can't reduce the debt, then even more money goes toward paying for the money we borrowed before. When the debt service costs go over 100 percent of the Federal income, we have zero for all those precious services that the Democrats love to lavish with funds.
Is that what they want? No more Obama-phones? No more food stamps? No more welfare?

some debt is not a bad idea Libs can't deal in cold hard facts, so they resort to vague generalities. If you leave your wallet home and a co-worker spots you 5 bucks for lunch, then some debt is not a bad idea." Owing $50 grand to a Mafia bookie is also "some debt." Not such a good idea, though.

Just remember: These are the same people who told us 10 years ago that giving houses to people who could not afford them wouldn't hurt us a bit.
And the ones who 20 years ago said Savings and Loans should be able to invest your money in their home furnishings.
And the some ones who said $500 million to Solyndra would give us ‘green energy’
And who told us that the surge in Iraq would not work. Or waterboarding would not help us find Bin Laden.
With a track record like that- why not trust the government!

Conyers has been in congress since 1965. The Detroit News needs to publish a photo layout of how Detroit looked in 1964 vs how it looks now.
To: Olog-hai
The debt is just a symptom of the real problem. The real problem is stupid, ignorant voters that would keep re-electing idiots like Conyers all these years.
Just look at Detroit and you'll see what Conyers has in mind for all of America soon.
