In my Peter the Roman post when I referred to Rome being destroyed, I was referring specifically to the Malachy Prophesy:

“In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church, there will sit Peter the Roman, who will pasture his sheep in many tribulations, and when these things are finished, the city of seven hills [i.e. Rome] will be destroyed, and the dreadful judge will judge his people. The End.”

As I indicated, I’m not a proponent of or believer in this prediction.

HE PRACTICES WHAT HE PREACHES, that is undeniable. Not just for show. He’s the real deal. We expect the Pope to be an advocate for the poor, that is no surprise. Some say there’s a liberal ideology there, but on the other hand he is against same sex marriage. As far as Popes go, he fits the bill perfectly.

You may be thinking of Cardinal Wolsey? He certainly learned the error of his ways. He ended up being accused of treason and died of poor health, conveniently before he was executed. In his final days it’s reported that he said, “If I had served my God as diligently as I did my king, He would not have given me over in my grey hairs.”
