It will not, however, stop my plan to plead with my vet to take me on as a patient. Hes an old country vet that has the best diagnostic talents and conservative treatments I have ever seen. Uh, before you do that...
...have you seen the length of his glove?

There is no “good length” of a glove.
Vet or doctor.
Nada, zilch...:)

You can BET that Obama will NEVER sign up for it. From Wasp’s link in post 17:
- Pro: If you apply online, you’re supposed to be able to get near-instantaneous verification of your identity, income, and citizenship or immigration status. An online government clearinghouse called the Data Services Hub will ping Social Security for birth records, IRS for income data and Homeland Security for immigration status. “That is a brand new thing in the world,” said Karp.

What does Obama do every morning?
He has a meeting with certain key progressives and they research current trends of what best to take away from the American citizen, what item, luxury, treat of object the people hold dear to their hearts, and they discuss ways to tax it, kill it, make it illegal or such.
Anything that raises hope and morale is high on their list, its ALL he does, every.
Except when he goes golfing.

The stated goal of communists, progressives, eco-warriors, et al. is to reduce the population to a more “manageable” size through restrictions like 1-child policies. What’s to stop them from trying to control our pet ownership through regulations and cost?
If people can’t afford to care for their pets, they could be thrown in jail for “animal cruelty,” so fewer people will own pets. That means police departments will have one less target when they bash your door down in the middle of the night.

I sense though that people will resist to this out-of-control government, mark my words.

I like the idea of The Exile Planet, re. “The Time Patrol” stories.

Our brilliant legislators here in blue Oregon passed a law essentially requiring an annual check-up for dogs & cats. Your vet cannot treat an animal brought in for an emergency if they didn’t have that check-up. I wonder how many pets were ‘disposed of’ when their owners realized they’d have that expense every year.

Vet expenses are outrageous ....this is going to make it worse. More and more people will abandon their pets.

Seeing the Nazification of America is pretty amazing, eh? Not so much other than the rate. With the left owning every institution of public indoctrination, it's pretty predictable.

Why the increase? Its part of a new 2.3-percent federal excise tax on certain medical devices that just went into effect. The tax will help fund the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare, intended for people, not pets. Manufacturers pay the tax, but a recent survey found more than half plan to pass it along.
...
How does this work? Medical devices used only on animals are exempt. However, items including IV pumps, sterile scalpels and anesthesia equipment, which are medical devices that have a dual use, meaning they can be used on people and animals, will be taxed. Hatcher said, Putting off an equipment purchase is something that can terribly affect our clients ability to have quality care.
Well, I'll pay the increase because my furkids are worth it. But I will complain loudly every step of the way.

I hope you are right. But I don't have the same faith in the ignorance sheeple I've run into. Certainly there are the exceptions - and I hope they are just quietly waiting and that there are more of them than I see and talk to.

My vet said I don't need to come in every year any more - since the vaccines are now good for 3 years. He left it up to me to come in for a checkup or not. I will hate it when he retires :(
