The Colorado gun debate is heating up. Companies are threatening to move, rape victims are ridiculed for testifying in committee hearings that they desire guns for self-protection, and potential victims are instructed to rely on rape whistles and call boxes.
Now the states sheriffs have entered the fray, expressing support for the Second Amendment, and according to El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa, the officers are getting some blowback from the Democratic Party.
In an interview Saturday morning with Jeff Crank on 740 AM KVOR radio, Maketa said 30 Colorado sheriffs went to the state capitol to speak out against restrictive gun control legislation.

That sure seems to be the M.O. here in Maryland. Of course, we don’t really have any Republican representation so we’re doubly screwed.
Freedomistas need to vote with their feet and move to free(r) states. Every freedom-oriented citizen who leaves the socialist states weakens them and strengthens us. I left Cali for Florida and I never looked back.
Thanks Nachum.
That NY law would make me a 3-time loser because I own 15 now and will own a couple more whenever the firearms manufacturers catch up with demand. When I visited a local gun shop a couple of weeks ago there were only 3 revolvers & 0 semiautos in the handgun display case, and 0 semiauto or repeating rifles of any kind in the shoulder gun rack.
Shotguns still seem to be available, but I have 2 now and that's probably enough for me. I gave up hunting a few years ago when the woods around here became overrun with city-slicker hunters who think red plaid is the natural color of game animals. I've been handloading almost all my ammo since 1962, and I thought I would be OK if factory made ammo ever became in short supply. But I was wrong, reloading supplies are mow almost as hard to find as factory made ammo and guns.
Ex Post Facto laws. Another grossly unconstitutional favorite of the fascists.
For all the folks that think we will ever have some remedy in the courts, think again. How many of these Ex Post Facto laws have you ever see overturned for that reason???
Remember Clinton’s retroactive tax increase. I howled to high heaven and most of the people I know had no clue as to what Ex Post Facto even means.
The electorate is ignorant. And getting more so daily.

Of course they do. And they're not "'Rats" they're commies. Marxist communist anti-American domestic enemies of the Constitution.

Yeah
I call them “Demik”[pause]”Rats”.
That's simply not true. Telephone companies have "limiters" on their systems which prevent overly loud sounds from being transmitted.
Maybe now; but wasn’t when i had to do it years ago. Very effective. :)
No. Rifles & shotguns in general are not legally “firearms” in NY. “Sawed off” and “assault weapon” variants are, along with handguns. Licensed “firearms” are exempted from the prohibition you reference. It’s all very stupid, but that’s long term established law in NY. I spent 10 years coming to understand it all, then left. Alas, few people bother to read the laws they live under - in part because of stupid laws like “a rifle is not a firearm”.
I can’t thank you enough for this enlightenment.
I looked up the definition of a firearm in the New York Sate law.
“Firearm” means (a) any pistol or revolver; or (b) a shotgun having one or more barrels less than eighteen inches in length; or (c) a rifle having one or more barrels less than sixteen inches in length; or (d) any weapon made from a shotgun or rifle whether by alteration, modification, or otherwise if such weapon as altered, modified, or otherwise has an overall length of less than twenty-six inches; or (e) an assault weapon. For the purpose of this subdivision the length of the barrel on a shotgun or rifle shall be determined by measuring the distance between the muzzle and the face of the bolt, breech, or breechlock when closed and when the shotgun or rifle is cocked; the overall length of a weapon made from a shotgun or rifle is the distance between the extreme ends of the weapon measured along a line parallel to the center line of the bore. Firearm does not include an antique firearm.
Using the legal definition, my nephew does not own any firearms at all.
You would think so.
NONE of the local news sites are mentioning this story, either.
Excellent vid/link. Put it up on my site and on my Twitter feed.
Thank you.
No problem.
I called and emailed Sheriff Maketa yesterday afternoon to thank him for his continuing battle for us. They are getting LOADS of support from around the nation.
How about those 100,000 Coloradans, each with hearing protection and a rape whistle, marching on the state capital and through it, “serenading’” ALL OF THOSE RATS!
