Report: Obama Considering Susan Rice for National Security Adviser Daniel Halper March 9, 2013 7:24 PM
Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador the United Nations, is being considered to be the next national security adviser to the president of the United States, according to media reports.
"Rice has emerged as far and away the front-runner to succeed Thomas E. Donilon as President Obamas national security adviser later this year, according to an administration official familiar with the presidents thinking. The job would place her at the nexus of foreign-policy decision making and allow her to rival the influence of Secretary of State John F. Kerry in shaping the presidents foreign policy," reports the Washington Post.
"The appointment would mark a dramatic twist of fortune for Rice, whose prospects to become the countrys top diplomat fizzled last year after a round of television appearances in which she provided what turned out to be a flawed account of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya.
"That episode ignited a firestorm of criticism from Senate Republicans, who questioned her honesty and vowed to oppose her nomination and exposed misgivings from more liberal detractors who questioned whether her temperament, her familys investments and her relations with African strongmen made her unfit to lead the State Department."
The Post maintains that Rice remains close to Obama. "Rice has largely fallen below the medias radar, but her standing within the Obama administration remains secure, according to White House officials and Democratic lawmakers. Her U.N. colleagues are betting she will ultimately serve as Obamas national security adviser, probably some time after the United States assumes the rotating presidency of the U.N. Security Council in July."
"...she still walks like John Wayne"
I wouldn’t ask Susan Rice’s advice on how to catch a cab in Manhattan.
I have never seen a person so adept at picking losers.
There is no way it can be accidental.
How about Big Bird? Or Chelsea Clinton? Either (or even both) would be better choices.
Obama would have picked Chelsea Clinton, but she’s white and he’s a racist.
Little people surround themselves with losers to make themselves look big.
Smoke and mirrors on the national scale.
For these who don’t understand why Obama picks these losers.....
He values loyalty over competency....
I am almost surprised BO the dog isn’t offered a position
0bama is an arrogant POS. I guess when he told her that he'd give her a promotion in exchange for her lying for him on national television 5 times about Benghazi, he wasn't kidding. He's relentless about making good on that promise.
Distraction from the gun control issue?
I'm sorry....I never thought something like this could ever happen in this country....I'm in my 70's thinking that some of us have dropped the ball.
I’ve noticed she’s been trotted out before the cameras the past few days. Contrived like clockwork.
Susan Rice would be part of the WH staff that doesn’t require advice and consent.
Ping
In the words and wisdom of the great Mrs. Bill Clinton...Really, What difference does it make? Did anyone expect Obama to appoint a rational competent person or even someone who might give him a different perspective? Of course not. The Obama clown parade rolls on.
I have never seen a person so adept at picking losers. There is no way it can be accidental.
Hmmm! I suspect it may have something to do with hating America.
It seems like Obama goes out of his way to pick the worst possible person for any job, and then the GOP goes out of its way to support said person, led by John McJudas and his sock puppet, Goober.
Make it Gomer. Goob was pretty cool.
