WASHINGTONCongressman Blake Farenthold (R-TX27), Chairman of the House Oversight Subcommittee on the Federal Workforce, introduced the Protecting Americas Civilian Employees (PACE) Act to keep Americas federal employees from facing furloughs due to sequestration cuts.
The PACE Act requires the Office of Management and Budget to submit a report to Congress indicating how to most efficiently transfer funds within agencies and departments for fiscal year 2013 to avoid all furloughs or reductions in Americas federal workforce.
Our federal workforce needs to be operating at 100%. They should not be punished because the President, Harry Reid and the Senate Democrats failed to do their jobs and replace the sequester.
My bill will require the Office of Management and Budget to submit a plan to Congress that implements the Presidents cuts without harming our civilian employees ability to keep pace with their demands and provide for their families.
In the district I represent, the civilian employees of Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) and Naval Air Station Corpus Christi (NASCC) could be furloughed for up to 22 days. Our local airport towers in Corpus Christi and Victoria might also face extreme cuts.
Those reductions in force are unacceptable. CCAD saves taxpayers millions, NASCC is a primary training site for naval pilots, and our airport tower operators are essential for safe travel and NASCCs training mission.
The bottom line is the government does not spend money wisely. We should be able to achieve the needed savings and keep our dedicated federal workforce going strong, without devastating furloughs and thats what my bill intends to do.
stupid jerk....the government continues to grow and grow and grow....frankly a 10percent across the board cut wouldn’t offend me at all.
‘Without harming Federal employees ability to provide for their families?’.. What about the private sector? They don’t have families? What an effing joke. I am getting sick of all the crap stories coming out of DC in just the past week. We need a war in America.
A Republican too.. There’s no hope.
So basically he’s saying that taxpayers exist for the sole purpose of keeping government employed?
Uh, money = jobs. We can’t cut the budget without cutting jobs.
The private sector has made significant cuts for the past five years, but you’d never know that from a sycophantic press.
Time for the federal goobermint to shed some extra weight, as well.
“dedicated federal workforce “
Where?? Dedicated??? Lmao!
It won't go anywhere, but I think he is attempting to put the Dems on record voting against their own voting bloc in favor of continued waste and fraud.
“So basically hes saying that taxpayers exist for the sole purpose of keeping government employed?”
Looks like it!
If everyone who claims to be conservative would change their voter registration from republican, ALL this crappola would stop!
The Farentholds in Texas have always been Democrats. (Remember his step-grandmom, “Sissy”, flaming liberal and best friend of Ann Richards?) But since no Democrat has won a statewide office in TX in ages, they now run as Republicans.
The citizens in the 27th Congressional District are low-information voters and should be ashamed of themselves.
If we stop paying them, they will leave Maryland and Northern Virginia. Where’s the down side?
Yes. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Politicians go to Washington as paupers, and retire as multimillionaires. How does that happen on their salaries? Are they serving us, or are we serving THEM?
(They use us as slaves. BTW, Government bonds are nothing but the buying and selling of our future labor from the time we're born.)
Any cuts should not only include government employees, but make up most of the bulk. A nation cannot survive when over half the population produces nothing and just consumes.
CUT THE HEADS!
I hope your idea
“It won’t go anywhere, but I think he is attempting to put the Dems on record voting against their own voting bloc in favor of continued waste and fraud. “
os the right interpretation
I don’t know if this Rep is smart enough to think of this
Try 50% of all judicial, executive, and legislative staffs. Then 20% of all federal workers except the U.S. military.
I like that too
