On Morning Joe, An Intra-Squad Liberal Dogfight Over Drones
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 03/07/2013 7:47:58 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

As Joe Scarborough said, "this is liberal on liberal on liberal violence. I love watching it." He was referring to the intra-squad liberal dogfight on drones, spurred by Rand Paul's filibuster, that broke out on Morning Joe today over the use of drones by the U.S. government. H/t NB reader Ray R.

Though former car czar Steve Rattner played a supporting role, the two main combatants were Sam Stein of the Huffington Post and Richard Wolffe of MSNBC itself. Stein criticized the lack of guidelines that the Obama administration has established for the use of drones on U.S. citizens, supporting Paul's argument that it should be an easy question for the Obama admin to answer. In the other corner, Wolffe was the internationalist, suggesting all terrorists should perhaps be entitled to the same due process, be they Saudi, Kuwaiti or American. Stein and Scarborough had to enlighten Wolffe about the special protections the Constitution extends to U.S. citizens.

Just a minor disagreement. Joe and his fellow liberals all agree on one important point, above all else, they love Obama.

They COULD just come out and say it -

“I’m all for 0bama having the power to kill US citizens without due process, but I don’t want a Republican having this power.”

Liberal logic is as follows..........

Drones are just fine as long as there is a no-fly zone over Gitmo, Planned Parenthood clinics, and all endangered species habitat.

"I don't have a problem with it. I trust President Obama."

"..but if this George Bush, Hell No!"

You are right about that.

Liberals are agonizing between approval and condemnation.

They would like to approve the policy if they could give the power only to a democrat president.

On the other hand, they don't want to condemn the policy because they know that "terrorist" in this context is Obama code-speak for white-male veterans, Bitter Clingers, patriots and constitutionalists.

They all agreed lamb was for dinner. Their only difference is how it should be served.

Good point about Gitmo;
Obama / Holder want to bring Club Gitmo terrorists to trial in the US, but terrorists* on US soil don’t get that “luxury”

* I’m assuming Obama / Holder consider terrorists to include conservatives, libertarians, gun owners, free market capitalists, veterans, red staters, Tea Party types...

These same folks who condone the Obama position would be screaming from the rooftops if G. Bush tried it. Good to see there are at least a few philosophically honest liberals instead of their all being cultists.

Morning Joe seems to be newsbusted’s favorite Rino. Who cares what the idiot with few viewers, (none of which are Republicans) thinks about anything?

Why increase his audience? He’s a flaming idiot, pretending to be the opposition on a nutty leftist propaganda network. MSNBC’s “reporters” have to use fake twitter accounts to make it appear anyone cares what they think about anything!
