'British rock guitarist Alvin Lee, a member of the band Ten Years After, has died aged 68.
His family announced on his official website that he unexpectedly died on 6 March following complications during routine surgery.
The Nottingham-born musician rose to fame after appearing at the Woodstock festival in 1969.
The band, who had eight Top 40 albums in the UK, had their biggest hit in 1971 with I'd Love To Change the World.
"We have lost a wonderful and much loved father and companion, the world has lost a truly great and gifted musician," said the statement from his wife and daughters.'

"Saw him live in Ten Years After in '74."
Saw him on the same tour at Tampa Stadium - did a great version of "Hey Joe".
We've lost a great guitarist.

Got a couple of their albums. Guess I’ll have to dig them out.

Yeah Britain, how’s that DHS working out for you?
The Woodstock performance and riff is burned into my brain.
Thanks Alvin.

Wow, I'd forgotten that Humble Pie was in the show I saw as well. I now recall being at the show and commenting to friends how awesome Steve Mariott's voice was.
I'll never forget that scene in the movie Woodstock with Alvin trying to carry a watermelon that someone had tossed on stage after playing "Goin' Home" as the finale. He's totally wiped out, and stumbling around on stage trying to keep this huge watermelon balanced on his shoulder.

In Heaven, there are no bass solos.

10 years after Elvis hit really big. At least that was always Lee’s explanation.
