Why Obama’s Push for a Stronger ATF Faces an Uphill Climb (VIDEO)

One of the overlooked aspects of Obama’s proposal to reduce gun-related violence and prevent mass shootings is his desire to revamp and revitalize the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Of the 23 Executive Orders in his plan, at least two mention the ATF directly, number 6, which primes the pumps for universal background checks, “Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers” and number 11, which is an attempt to solidify the agency’s leadership, “Nominate an ATF director.”

Plus, there’s at least one other EO that would presumably involve the ATF, number 13, “Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.”

Obviously, this is rather vague, but it stands to reason that the federal agency dedicated to protecting “our communities from violent criminals, criminal organizations, the illegal use and trafficking of firearms…” would be part of this renewed effort to curb gun violence.

In short, it’s pretty clear that the White House wants to expand the ATF’s role in crime fighting while giving it a facelift of sorts.

As mentioned, one of the more pressing matters is confirming the now Acting Director of the ATF, B. Todd Jones as the agency’s official leader. Jones assumed the role in August 2011 following the resignation of former Acting Director Kenneth Melson, who stepped down in the wake of the fatally flawed Operation Fast and Furious.

Plainly put, the ATF proved once again that it is a poorly run and inept arm of the Department of Justice (which one can argue is also poorly run and inept).

Hi.

In bazzaro world 0bama’s proposal makes sense. For example, how are you going to track all gun owners? Or, how are you going to provide the Mexican drug cartels with weapons?

Just because two federal agents, and over 300 Mexican citizens are dead, doesn't mean you don't want to expand the department that caused it, right?

We don't have much time...

Here’s how bad DOJ has gotten in the public estimation ~ and probably reality ~ if James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner were to be murdered now you’d had ATF and the FBI providing the shovels to bury the bodies.

Socialiam, communism, leftism, and statism are for assholes.

You are so Right!! Time is very short.

“We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force.” Ayn Rand

To quote Dr. Ferris in Atlas Shrugged. speaking to Hank Reardon...

"There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt."

Yep, time is short.

The ATF is going to protect our streets from gun crimes? This comes from the government agency that ran unlawful firearms to Mexico drug cartels that were involved in several thousands murders?

Are we all so stupid and naive as to believe this HS?

The federal government never had jurisdiction in the States unless the crime involved “interstate commerce.” How is someone with a firearm in a sovereign State providing jurisdiction for one of Obamies commies to show up and take control of over the alleged crime?

Clearly, this an unconstitutional expansion of federal police power into the States for the sole purpose of firearm confiscation through attrition.

Sounds.......ominous, doesn't it? Next thing you know, we'll be hearing of drone strikes in the U.S., because a politician, somewhere, thought he saw a "terrorist."
Why not let the peoples militia protect their own communities? It wouldn't add a penny to the deficit. It would be free, voluntary, and the American people would still have their liberty. But nooooooo. That would work too well. (Can't let the voters see people caring for themselves and each other! It just might catch on!)

News Alert: ATF announces that due to sequester budget cuts the Drug Cartels will have to purchase their guns from Craig’s List.

I recently saw a TV show on the “anniversary” of the Waco massacre. It reminded me of how bloodthirsty and incompetent the ATF and FBI really are.

Maybe the batfags could hang out in the hoods and when they see gun violence about to happen, they could jump in front of the bullet and save another of obama's sons.

“Why not let the peoples militia protect their own communities? It wouldn't add a penny to the deficit. It would be free, voluntary, and the American people would still have their liberty.”

Crime is big “business” and if citizens are allowed to patrol their own communities, that would take from big city liberal socialist unions and their minions.

Remember always being told: “you can't take the law into your own hands!” Why not? The law comes from the people's representatives, but, that scared enough law information citizens to prevent them from getting involved in their own crime prevention in their communities.

Lets remember that a few tens or hundreds of people, not authorized to purchase a gun, do in fact go to gun stores and fill out the forms to make a purchase. It is illegal for them to do so. An instant-check discovers the crime. Prosecuting such crimes is a slam-dunk.

The ATFE/DOJ claim they do not have the resources to prosecute these people.

Make the confirmation hearings all about F&F and you’ll stop the whole ATF expansion right in its tracks.
