WALL, Pa. East McKeesport police said a 24-year-old mother left her 8-month-old baby alone in a wooded area Wednesday evening with only a one-piece on and a bottle of milk.
According to the criminal complaint, Jennifer Cutruzzula told officers she intentionally left the child near Irwin Street in the Borough of Wall because she wanted a "fresh start."
"She admitted she put the baby there, left a bottle of milk with the child and said she had been overwhelmed," said East McKessport police Chief Russ Stroschein.
Investigators said a person living near the area saw Cutruzzula walk into the woods and leave the child. That neighbor called 911 and then rescued the baby.

You viewpoint on the matter could be because you actually value life, human life in particular.
Leftists do not. “A pig is a dog is a rat is a boy” as a philosophy will have results such as this.
Sounds like a right to life law to me. This law has my support.
Looks like the meth is doing its work.
Agree, methface indeed. The baby is so much better off without this scum influencing it.
There will be a liberal lawyer claiming she was suffering from postpartum depression or psychosis and she’ll walk.
Some states have laws authorizing safe drop off points where a parent can bring an unwanted child, leave it, no questions asked. A good idea, it could save little lives..
This woman should be charged with attempted murder.
Nail on the head and "fundamental decency" isn't something that can be taught to a 16 year old "mother".
Its horrible that this mother did this but its a good chance to remember that prior to 100 years ago, families did this all the time. Its the basis for the Hansel & Gretel story. Not to say this woman was justified but it shows how far we have come as a society that this is now a crime.
While I agree with you, prisons have Chaplains, church services and church outreach programs. God will judge her eternal fate and He does provide an "out", she should pay the piper on earth though, if for no other reason than to serve as a warning to other parents considering doing what she did.
My wife and I, after losing our first son the day after he was born, have been blessed with another. He reached eight months of age a few days ago.
He has had a lingering chest cold, and he’s been miserable. Sometimes it has been overwhelming.
We wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Both of us work full time ... but we have worked with our employers to stagger schedules, so that nearly 24 hours a day, every day, at least one of us can be with him. He’s finally getting over that cold and he’s smiling, laughing, crawling, sitting up, and trying to stand.
I cannot imagine doing what this young woman did. It just boggles the mind. The “safe havens” — police stations, fire stations and hospitals where an overwhelmed parent can drop off an infant, no questions asked — are a great idea, and have saved a lot of young lives and made thousands more a great deal better.
Without even checking, I’m sure such safe havens were available in Pennsylvania. If not there, then in another state a few hours’ drive away.
Yes, this young woman will get the fresh start she wanted, but not the way she wanted it.
Mom left infant alone in woods
Obviously there needs to be a government program to solve issues like this. Perhaps an additional payment from social services per child, not abandoned, would work. We already have a pretty good infrastructure established. /s
Yep, you can always find the unusually-named criminals on Facebook. This one is no exception. She's got two profiles, even. One of them with the infant she left in the forest.
Lock her demented ass up.
Hansel & Gretel, Truffaut’s “L’enfant sauvage”, Romulus & Remus, Tarzan, etc.
Now, of course, there aren’t many (any?) stories of all the ones abandoned in the woods that did NOT survive.
It’s sort of like in “Hansel and Gretel” (in the book), where the hungry parents left the children in the woods to fend for themselves! The mother or stepmother, kept nagging at their dad to leave the children in the woods when he went to cut wood. They took them out so much farther than they’d ever been before; thinking they would get lost and the animals would get them.
Of course, at the end the children do find their way back, (after killing the witch) and find the mom or step-mom had died, and their dad had bitterly regretted leaving them and was overjoyed to see them again! He couldn’t find them and had grieved over his part in the plot. He had not been able to forgive himself for letting his wife talk him into abandoning the children!
You mention Hansel and Gretel; you’re not alone w/that! I thought of that too, so did some other posters, and it’s almost exactly the same. Another one would be “Jungle Book”, with “Mowgli”, the little boy left to be raised by wolves (at least partly)”The Hunchback Of Notre Dame”, and “Oliver Twist”!
A lot of these stories were inspired by these situations of parents leaving children behind by death or abandonment, and in dangerous places! Of course in Oliver Twist’s case, the mother gave birth, died, and left him in the care of the people in the orphanage or workhouse. She didn’t just leave him out in nature. I also thought of Romulus and Remus and Tarzan,as well!
I also think that the Hunchback was like Oliver T. in that they both were abandoned at a church or orphanage or some other place, not in the wild.
and she was ordered by the judge to go to a behavior clinic. -...Oh...just....sheesh. The judge should be incarcerated (or incinerated) too.
